Calmbirth Love 🙏
'Amy was amazing! We got so much out of the course and her passion, knowledge and presentation style is so engaging! We intentionally travelled across Melbourne to do the course with her and would absolutely recommend anyone do the same.
We are now armed with so much more information, tips and options than we had going into it, and my hesitant feelings about birth have completely changed.
It's reassuring how much focus is placed on individual decision-making, as well as the emphasis on the partner's role throughout pregnancy, the final weeks and birth - really practical and useful information! Feeling empowered and excited about what's to come thanks to Calmbirth and Amy'

4/4: I felt completely in control the entire time and was able to make informed choices along the way. THANKYOU for playing such a huge role in our positive experience. I know the education you provided us with had the biggest impact and it was the best investment we could have made.
From the bottom of my heart thank you for playing such a huge role in changing my mind-set and self-belief that I could have a normal physiological and beautiful birth (AND I DID!!)
The Calmbirth course and you helped me to remove fear and empower me to believe that I could have a beautiful birth. I truly felt that it was such a beautiful birth and the two midwives caring for us kept saying how beautiful it was and how well I managed.
He’s now 6 weeks old and I feel like I’ve fully recovered and I’m feeling great!
My heart is so full for Olivia and David, what a joy it was to have you at Calmbirth. Congratulations!! I wish you so well as you enjoy George being home with you and immerse yourself in family life ♥️

"Calmbirth really helped us to feel more confident going into the birth"
Hi Amy, Josh and I attended your March Calmbirth course.
I gave birth to our baby girl on May the 6th (one day before my due date). We are so grateful that we did your course it really helped us to feel more confident going into the birth.
From what we learnt at Calmbirth, Josh and I created birth preferences including:
⚡ Josh to announce gender
⚡ Baby straight on to Shannon for skin to skin
⚡ Delayed/optimal cord clamping
⚡ Baby led attachment/ the breast crawl
⚡ Skin to skin for Josh
My labour started on the morning of the 5th with very light period cramps which I thought were braxton hicks. Contractions started to become really intense that afternoon, we actually went into the hospital late afternoon as I hadn’t felt baby move all day and had CTG monitoring, amniotic fluid checked etc and they confirmed I was in early labour. We were discharged home around 7:30pm and as we were leaving they said to us, ‘we don’t expect to see you for a long time’ This was not the case haha!
My waters broke at home on the toilet, so we went into the hospital at 12:30am. When they first checked how dilated I was, I was already 10cm! The midwives admitted they thought they’d be sending me home because I was managing to talk through my contractions and that I had must have done most of my labouring at home. I only used the tens machine, I was begging for more pain relief but it was too late, Pippa was in a hurry and came into the world at 3:52am
I believe that everything we learnt at your Calmbirth course, especially about birth preferences (which we got all besides the pain relief) really helped me through the different stages of labour, so thank you! We definitely think people need to attend your Calmbirth course especially for first time parents like us!
We are settling in well. Pippa has been kicking goals in all the follow up appointments we’ve had.

⚡️ MONDAY MINDSET ⚡️
Keeping baby in mind, always ♥️

3/3: At 4.49am on the 20th of April Joel was able to catch our baby girl (along with the midwife) and pass her straight onto my chest, where she stayed uninterrupted for hours.
It all felt very intense at the time so I don't know how either Joel or I would have coped had we not completed the calm birth course. It helped us know what to expect and how to overcome the challenging moments as a birth team.
I am so very proud of myself but also of my partner for being everything that I needed to birth our daughter ❤️
She has been an absolute dream baby and we have been on cloud 9 since she was born, although a little tired of course
Wishing Lauren and Joel the longest stay on cloud 9 with their beautiful daughter Emerald! Congratulations and thank you so much for sharing your experience

2/3: I know that first labours can be lengthy, so at around 2am I started to question my ability to cope and thought I must be having the typical 4cm 'crisis of confidence '. Our private midwife came to our home to check my progress and within 5 minutes of her arriving we were on our way to the hospital. It turns out that my crisis of confidence was actually transition, as I was 8cm dilated and baby's head was really low.
I thought the car trip might slow labour and give me a little bit of relief, but instead I spent the 30 minute car trip into the hospital in transition. I continued to have 4 contractions every 10 minutes and could feel my body involuntarily pushing with each one.
Both Joel and I thought that our baby might make her grand entrance in the car, and then in the car park and then the hospital lobby 😅
Luckily we just made it to the birth suite in time for her head to be visible. My body continued to push involuntarily, so I just breathed through each contraction in order to slow things down.

1/3: The birth of Emerald Rose
My membranes ruptured spontaneously in the early hours of the 19th April. In attempt to bring labour on and avoid an induction, I spent the day walking up and down the gutters and bouncing on the fit ball.
At around 6pm that evening I started having some period-pain-like cramping, so I made sure that I got some rest, knowing that it may be a long night. By 11.30pm I was starting to get really uncomfortable and having around 2 contractions every 10 minutes. I popped the tens machine on, started using my birth comb and started focusing on my breath through the contractions.
Joel was able to use the skills and knowledge from the calm birth course to support me both physically and emotionally, as well as deal with some of the practicalities, such as when to call the midwife.
