🌿 Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day! 🌿

Today, we celebrate the incredible educators who make such a difference in the lives of our children every single day. ❤️

Being an early childhood educator is so much more than teaching. It’s comforting a little one when they’re missing home, celebrating their first achievements, encouraging them to have a go, wiping away tears, answering a hundred questions, creating moments of wonder and, most importantly, making every child feel safe, valued, loved and capable.

To our beautiful team — thank you. 🫶🏼

Thank you for the patience you show, the care you give, the creativity you bring and the countless little things you do that often go unnoticed but mean so much.

You help shape the very beginning of a child’s journey. You create memories, build confidence, nurture friendships and lay the foundations for lifelong learning. What a privilege that is. ✨

We know the days can be busy, challenging and sometimes exhausting, but please know that what you do matters. The impact you have on our children reaches far beyond the walls of our service.

We are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you and feel so lucky to have such a dedicated, caring and passionate team.

Ritika has a way of making every child in her K4 room feel completely safe.

She has been our Kindergarten Teacher in K4 for three years and four months, and she was drawn to the role because she loves being part of the little moments that help children grow.

Music and dance are her favourite way to connect with the kids, and she brings that same energy every day.

She still laughs about the children who have asked if they can come live with her.

Her comfort food is yellow lentils with cumin rice and tangy crispy potatoes with pickled onions, and she admits she could eat it every day. Outside of work she loves cooking, playing badminton, and trying new coffees.

Her philosophy is to guide gently, listen closely, and grow together with the children she teaches.

Empathetic, thoughtful, and sensitive are the three words that perfectly describe Ritika, and they show in everything she does for her K4 room 🤍

Long before our babies can talk, they are already building the foundation for how they will think and learn.

Stacking blocks, exploring textures, and watching colours light up beneath their hands all help build the neural pathways babies need to think, move, and connect with the world.

Even our cozy nook has a job to do. A quiet space to rest and reset supports healthy development too, not just the busy moments.

We are not just keeping babies busy. We are helping their brains grow 🤍

Before inclusion was standard practice, Marlene was already making it her priority.

In the early days of childcare, inclusion wasn't spoken about the way it is today. Children with additional needs weren't always given the space, support or consideration they deserved. Marlene saw that — and she made it her specialty.

She took it on not because she had to, but because she believed every single child deserved to be there.

To be seen.

To be supported.

To belong.

That wasn't the industry standard in 1990. But it was hers.

Those values didn't retire when Marlene did. They're alive in every room, every educator, and every child who walks through the doors of Deer Park ELK today. 🤍

We decided to find out. What we found wasn't exactly tidy, but it told us everything about how much a parent carries, literally too.

There's a reason our Toddler 1 room feels so calm. Her name is Joanne.

Joanne has been Room Leader in our Toddler 1 room since the centre opened, which means she's been part of the Deer Park ELK family for four years.

She became an educator because of her own experience with anxiety, and that experience shapes the way she cares for every child in her room. She wants each of them to feel understood and supported enough to build their confidence at their own pace.

Her favourite part of the day is dancing with the children, being silly with them, and sharing the giggles that come along with it. She also loves listening to their funny little observations and the one liners that come out of nowhere and catch her off guard.

When she's not at the centre, you'll usually find her with an iced coffee in hand, ordering tacos or burritos, or halfway through a new TV series.

Supportive, encouraging, and loud are the three words that perfectly describe Joanne, and anyone who knows her would agree.

She is calm when the room needs it and full of energy the rest of the time, and we are so grateful she is part of our team 🤍

If we handed out superhero names based on what our educators actually do all day, here's who'd earn one: The Calm-inator, unshaken by meltdowns or bees. Captain Snack Negotiator, who can sell broccoli as a treat.

Real powers, just not the kind that come with a cape.

When you've spent 20 years in early education, you stop noticing the glossy brochures and start noticing the things that actually matter.

The way an educator responds when a child is struggling.
