You'll never hear everything that gets said to your child during the day.

But at Deer Park ELK, you don't have to wonder.

Because the way our educators speak to your child — every question they ask, every moment they hold space for — it's all intentional.

This is what it looks like to invest in who your child is becoming, not just what they're learning.

25 years. Same answer every time.

When we asked Paul's mum why she stayed for 25 years, she didn't hesitate. "I love my work. I love being with the children. I loved helping the parents. My heart was in it."

And you could feel every word of it.

She'd be on the floor dancing with the kids.

Advising young parents who looked to her for guidance.

Pouring herself into every room, every child, every family that came through the doors.

That's not a career. That's a calling. 🤍

Marlene's passion for children and families didn't stay with just her. It was passed on. And it's exactly why Paul and Marie show up for every child and every family at Deer Park ELK the way they do today.

When an educator enrols their own child at the centre they work at — that tells you everything.

These aren't people who fell into childcare.

They chose it, and they show up for it every day with the kind of warmth and patience that you just can't train into someone. It's who they are.

Your child deserves people like that.

If you ask Paul's mum what her role was when they took on their first centre, she'll tell you exactly what she told us - everything.

Marlene opened the doors. She cooked the meals. She interviewed the parents. She ran the rooms. And when the day was done? She'd be on the floor of the nursery, because that's where she loved to be most.

This is what it looks like when a business is built on genuine passion and not a job description.

Just a woman who showed up and did whatever needed to be done.

Every single day.

You drop them off hoping they'll be okay.

And then one day you pick them up and they're a little braver than they were that morning. A little more themselves.

That's not by accident.

At Deer Park ELK, every day is designed to grow the confidence and creativity your child will carry with them long after kinder.

In 1990, Paul's dad had a heart transplant. The family needed a new direction — something meaningful, something manageable, something that didn't feel like just a job.

His mum, Marlene, had always loved children. She'd worked in schools, she knew this world. So they took on a little childcare centre and thought, let's try this.

That one decision is the reason Deer Park ELK exists today.

Touring early learning centres for the first time can feel like a lot.
The websites all sound the same.
The brochures all show the same kinds of photos.
So how do you actually tell which centre is the right one for your family?

Swipe through for the three things to look for and save them for later.

If you'd like to feel that at Deer Park ELK, we'd love to show you around! 🧡

Meet Adeola — the children love her dancing, they love her stories, and at least one of them is convinced she's 110 years old.

Three months into her role in the kinder room, and she is already one of those people who just gets it. Adeola came to early childhood inspired by the teachers who made her own school years feel safe and joyful — and now she's building that same thing for your child every day.

Outside of the centre, she's exploring the world with her own kids on weekends, hunting down new foods at cultural events, going on mystery trips with no destination, and squeezing in a coffee and a good book whenever she can.

Her philosophy? That children learn through what they see and hear — and when they're surrounded by warmth and care, they grow into compassionate, curious humans who look after themselves and the world around them.

When Deer Park Early Learning & Kindergarten was opened, the intention was clear, to create a place that felt warm, safe, thoughtful, and genuinely supportive for local families.

That shows up in the care, the environment, and the way the centre has been shaped around what matters most in the early years, children feeling secure, supported, and able to grow with confidence.

For families searching for childcare in Deer Park, that kind of care is so important.

The version of your child you see at pick-up?

It’s being shaped in the small moments.

The moments where they learn to try again, speak up, make decisions, build friendships and back themselves. 🤍

At Deer Park ELK, our kindergarten program is intentionally designed to support confidence, creativity and independence from the very beginning because the early years aren’t just preparation for school, they’re the foundation for life.

Every block tower, messy painting, imaginative game and “I did it myself” moment is helping your child grow into who they’re becoming.
