Meredith, co-founder of Miscarriage Australia, was honoured to attend the official opening of the miscarriage memorial garden at Bunurong Memorial Park in Dandenong. We feel privileged to have been involved in the early planning stages of this beautiful and meaningful space—an initiative led by the Miscarriage Information Support Service (MISS) with the support of the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust. Thank you for creating such an important place for remembrance and healing. See the Butterfly Garden here https://www.smct.org.au/areas/butterfly-garden

In Australia, miscarriage impacts over 100,000 couples each year. Dedicated funding to improve support for people who experience miscarriage is a great step towards change.

Well done to everyone involved in lobbying for improved support for those affected by miscarriage, including our co-lead, Jade, who is also a co-founder for the Early Pregnancy Loss Coalition.

The Early Pregnancy Loss Coalition (EPLC) welcomes the Federal Government’s budget pledge of $7 million over four years for miscarriage educational resources and frontline support services, which will benefit up to 150,000 families affected by miscarriage each year.

When checking in with how your loved ones feel and whether they need support, your choice of words and the help you offer matters. Take care that you are prepared and ready emotionally and physically before providing support, as you may also experience grief. It is normal and valid to feel sad about the loss.

Please take care and know that support is available at https://miscarriageaustralia.com.au/finding-miscarriage-support/for-family-and-friends/supporting-someone-after-miscarriage/
