A Flying Start to School in Action

Our Kindergarten children loved visiting Blackburn Primary School’s garden. They explored what the school students have been growing, collected seeds, and learned from the teacher about caring for plants.

Experiences like these help children build confidence, connect with their local school community, and support a positive transition to school.

🌱 From Garden to Plate 🥕

Our kinder children have been busy caring for our capsicum and cauliflower plants—watering them, checking on their growth, and watching them change every day

This week, we celebrated a very special moment… our first harvest! The children were so proud to pick their very own cauliflower and capsicum.

To make it even more meaningful, they worked together to cook delicious roasted vegetables using what they had grown themselves.

Such a beautiful way to learn about nature, healthy eating, and where our food comes from.

🌿 Lest We Forget – Learning About ANZAC Day 🌿

This week at our centre, children explored the meaning of ANZAC Day through hands-on and meaningful experiences. From baking delicious ANZAC biscuits to creating beautiful rosemary wreaths, they engaged in conversations about remembrance in a way that was thoughtful and age-appropriate.

It’s been a special opportunity for children to build an early understanding of respect, history, and community.

Our A Flying Start to School program supports children to build confidence and readiness for their school journey, and we’re so excited to share that our AFSTS T-shirts have officially arrived!

From Our Garden to Our Community

We have freshly harvested thyme from our centre garden, and there is plenty to share! Families are welcome to take some home and enjoy using it in your cooking.

It’s lovely for the children to see how the herbs we grow can be shared with our community.

Our 4yo Kinder children had a wonderful excursion to our local Woolworths as part of our “A Flying Start to School” program.

The children travelled by bus and helped choose ingredients for birthday cakes they will bake together in the room. Along the way, they practised safety, numeracy and literacy skills while following the shopping list and exploring the store.

Real-life learning, teamwork and lots of excitement! 🛒🎂

Dinosaur Discovery at Kinder! 🦕

We loved welcoming Museums Victoria back to our centre for the third year!

This year’s theme was fossils and dinosaurs, and the children were amazed seeing and gently touching the giant fossil replicas up close.

The big question of the day?
Who’s taller — the dinosaur or us? 📏

Such a hands-on, curiosity-filled experience that brought learning to life! ✨
