ESSENDON Pre-School Piano Program
Have you thought about trying piano for your preschooler but are not sure where to start?
Little KeyNotes is our group piano curriculum for ages 4-5 where children learn to play the piano through:
🎹 Short, 5-finger position songs
🎹 Wider musical appreciation. Through games, listening and composition tasks
🎹 An age-appropriate lesson structure
🎹 Repetition
🎹 Singing
🎹 Group learning
Our Little KeyNotes students thrive in their group setting, learning with friends and from friends, offering a unique and impactful environment for students to begin and nurture their love of music-making and the piano.
Every learner can learn at their own pace with our system of differentiating our approach to each individual. This is a collaborative program, where ensemble playing is key, yet individual outcomes are nurtured. We do this by offering 3-4 difficulty levels (or challenges) for each song. Students quickly become adept at moving on to the next challenge, deepening their skill set and their understanding.

🎹 Free Piano Program for Moonee Valley Children (Ages 7–12)
We are excited to be offering Keys to Connect, a fully funded 10-week group piano program for children aged 7–12 living in Moonee Valley.
This program is designed for families who may not otherwise have access to music lessons, and no previous experience is needed. Beginners are very welcome.
✔ Small, supportive group classes
✔ Instruments and books provided
✔ Friendly, experienced teachers
✔ End-of-program concert for families
✔ Located in Essendon

After many wonderful years with Songbirds, it’s time to say a very heartfelt goodbye to Josh.
Josh has been a kind, thoughtful and dependable teacher, and we are very grateful for the care he has shown his students. Josh has always brought a calm and encouraging presence into the room, and that has meant a great deal to the families and students he worked with.
As he moves into a new full-time role with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, we wish him all the very best for what lies ahead.
