🥕 From Garden to Plate 🧁

Today, Chef Troy and Itzi took our Wallabies children out to harvest the carrots we’ve been growing in our garden. The children carefully picked the carrots before heading inside to wash, grate, mix, pour and stir their way to creating a delicious homemade carrot cake 🍰

The best part? Sitting together and enjoying it for afternoon tea — and yes, it was absolutely delicious! 😋

Experiences like these help children connect with where food comes from while building confidence, teamwork and practical life skills through hands-on learning.

Today we’re incredibly proud to celebrate a very special milestone for one of our team members - Zarley has officially completed her Early Childhood Education traineeship through Gowrie Victoria! 🎉👏

Zarley joined Playmakers Early Learning as a passionate school leaver beginning her journey in early childhood education, and over the course of her traineeship she has grown into a confident, capable and nurturing educator. We are so proud of the dedication, care and professionalism she has shown throughout her learning journey.

At Playmakers Early Learning, we are deeply committed to investing in the next generation of educators through high-quality training, mentoring and real-world learning experiences. This is why we proudly partner exclusively with Gowrie Victoria for all of our trainee educators.

Gowrie Victoria are recognised leaders in early childhood education and professional learning, and their values strongly align with our own commitment to quality, reflective practice, inclusion, wellbeing and child safety. The combination of Gowrie’s industry-leading education and the hands-on mentoring and practical experience our trainees receive within our service creates an incredibly strong foundation for future educators entering the sector.

For us, partnerships like this are about much more than qualifications - they are about ensuring children are supported by educators who have been trained within environments that prioritise safety, professionalism, critical reflection and high-quality early learning outcomes.

Congratulations again, Zarley We are so proud to have been part of your journey and cannot wait to see what the future holds for you. 💛

🏀🏀 New Incursion Alert 🏀🏀

Last week our Wallabies, Kookaburras & Echidnas had an absolute blast with Coach Kris from IFA Sports.

With basketballs in hand, the children explored movement, coordination and teamwork in a fun and engaging way.

We’re thrilled to be continuing this as a fortnightly incursion—more energy, more skills, and plenty more fun ahead! 🙌

Little moments of learning and reflection this week in the lead-up to ANZAC Day ❤️

From creating poppies, to baking ANZAC biscuits, to listening to stories about remembrance, our children explored the meaning behind this important day in a gentle and thoughtful way.

Through these experiences, they are beginning to understand why we remember and the symbols that help us do so.

We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

🥁 African Drumming Incursion – What a Way to Start the Year! 🌍

Last Friday we were thrilled to welcome African Drumming for our first incursion of the year.

Our facilitator Odai brought incredible energy, warmth and fun to the session, instantly engaging the children through rhythm, movement and music. 🎶✨

The children were fully immersed — feeling the beat and exploring rhythms! It was a fantastic cultural experience that supported listening skills, coordination and a whole lot of fun!

Thank you, Odai, for an unforgettable session — we can’t wait to do it again! 💛

🔥 Fire Evacuation Drill – December 🔥

Earlier this month, our team conducted a fire evacuation drill, with the scenario being a fire in the kitchen.

From the very first whistle indicating the emergency, our educators moved quickly, calmly and with purpose. All children across every room were organised, reassured and exited in an orderly manner, making their way safely to our designated assembly point in the playground.

⏱ 3 minutes and 45 seconds
That’s the total time from first whistle to all head counts completed — an outstanding result and a true reflection of the professionalism, teamwork and preparedness of our team.

Regular emergency drills are an important part of keeping our service safe, and they also help children build confidence and understanding in a calm, supported way.

A huge thank you to our incredible team for always putting safety first. 👏💛

🌼🥣 We recently had another visit from our wonderful friends from the CWA Williamstown Branch — this time to bake scones with the children!

The rooms were filled with little hands mixing, kneading, shaping, and of course… enjoying the irresistible smell of fresh scones baking. The children loved learning alongside the CWA ladies, who brought so much patience, warmth and baking experience to the morning!!

These intergenerational moments mean so much to our Playmakers community — building connection, confidence, language skills, and a shared sense of belonging. And when it all ends in warm scones straight from the oven, it’s even better! 🥰✨

We’re incredibly grateful for this growing partnership and are already counting down to their next visit — Christmas baking is coming up next! 🎄🍪

Thank you to our new friends from the CWA for sharing your time, talents, and heart with us.

🦷✨ Another bright and smile-filled day at Playmakers!

We were excited to welcome The Dental Squad back for their second visit of the year last Friday. These twice-yearly check-ins are such a valuable part of helping our little Playmakers build confidence, curiosity, and healthy lifelong habits around caring for their teeth.

The children loved exploring dental tools, learning about healthy choices, and asking plenty of clever questions. Visits like these make oral care feel friendly and fun — and help ease any worries about real dental appointments later on.

At Playmakers, we’re committed to nurturing the whole child — and that includes healthy, happy smiles! 😄

Let’s keep those sparkling smiles shining all year round! ✨
