Relax, take a deep breath. Try to really be present with people. That means to listen, don’t speak. Show understanding and empathy. Don’t try to fix the problem or interrupt a person when they are speaking.

Get off your phones when you are with your kids. Watch them at their gymnastics class. Your kids want you to watch and smile at them. That is how we connect. Talk and listen to your kids/partners/parents/friends etc.

There will always be problems and stress but there will not always be time with people. Kids grow up so fast, parents get old and fragile. Ten minutes is all it takes to be really present with them.

You don’t want your legacy to be that you worked all the time, that you never had time for your children. Children don’t need things, they need you to be present. To really listen and understand them. To be patient, calm, kind and gentle.

People want your time. They want you to be present.

Start playing board games or any games with your family. Put all phones, computers away for one evening a week and just be present and have fun with your family. Dance, sing, be silly. It may feel weird at first but your inner child will love it. Keep going, don’t give up. Watch how your life changes.
