Wynbrook Family day care

Comments

Dear parents,
Wynbrook family day care has taken a short break and will be back soon. We will let you know when we start the care again.
It has been a busy day so far. .... so much to do.
What an interesting activity. Blindfold and pick.
You can use various materials to do this activity. Children are using lot of skills here to manage picking up the cotton balls while blindfolded.
WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!!!
ROBIN and AGAM learning literacy and maths skills. Robin loves to try calculations with numbers while Agam is practicing to perfect writing her name.
Today we learned about Gravity and some other science facts. We learnt how different things of different weights react to the gravity. We also made our own parachute and successfully blew it away in the wind. It was so enchanting to watch.
Celebrating christmas eve at wynbrook family day care.
Bubbles time. We never get tired of Bubbles ever.
Just Pop! Pop! Pop....
Decorating for Christmas. Children decorated the little Chritsmas tree today and we specially made gift boxes using Origami paper.
We made our own insect charts. Reused an old insect encyclopedia book cover to make insect charts. Children got to learn about various insects they can see in Australia.
Connecting cubes. These are a great investment that helps your child improve their fine motor skills. Fine motor skills include important movements like grasping, reaching, and moving that allow children to perform essential everyday activities. Playing with building or construction toys strengthens their fingers and arms, while also developing their hand eye coordination.
After school activity. Learn with christmas. Match anf write the christmas items.
Christmas activity. Extending the previous activity now to color ur christmas tree.

THE RAINBOW SERPENT

Rainbows are believed to be the serpent snaking from one watering hole to the next, replenishing waterholes around the country. This is the explanation given as to why some sources of water never dry up even during times of great drought.

It represents the life-giving value of water as well as the cycle of the seasons.
The Rainbow Serpent is considered one of the most powerful and widespread Ancestral Beings of Aboriginal Australia.

Children collected the puzzles we had that could be used to make a Rainbow Serpent.

World ocean day.
We tried to make a very realistic beach today by using the sand and blue water with some story.
THE OCEAN NEEDS HELP
The ocean was dirty and fish was dying due to pollution in the ocean. The ocean tried to push all the garbage out at the beach but that was hard. So children came to the rescue.
They picked up all the trash people had thrown at the beach and made it so clean and beautiful that all the fish came to say a biiiggg thankyou. Happy world ocean day !!!

String painting or pulled string art is a great way to develop kids' fine motor skills, and strengthen grasp and manual control.

One of the greatest benefits of string art is mental stimulation. Throughout the creative process, you are forced to make decisions. You will encounter hurdles and have no choice but to work through them to achieve your ultimate goal of a completed project

CONNECTORS
There are several known benefits to connector play, just highlighting a few which we noticed for sure:

1. Excellent boost to fine motor skills esp. for the younger kids, as they grasp and attempt to mould and exert pressure to make the connections.
2. Imagination and creativity, allowing to make with their hands whatever their minds imagine and create lovely stories around the objects made. We made a robot, rocket, bike and lot more.
3.Problem-solving, tinkering and experimenting – It gives the child immediate feedback on the work and an opportunity to self-correct with minimal guidance.
4. Building their own versions of different objects and forming structures can be so much fun for children and hearing stories around them has definitely been fun for us too.

NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK 2023.
We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.
We began our reconciliation week today with some Aboriginal art.
Before starting the paintings , we talked about the story behind reconciliation. We talked about the people of the land and we feel sorry about what happened.
I showed them pictures of people of the land and their art and dances.
