A key feature of the EMDRAA Conference is our pre-conference workshops.
Held in person, these sessions provide a valuable opportunity for focused, practical learning, designed to build advanced clinical skills, deepen confidence, and create space for meaningful professional connection.
We’re incredibly grateful to this year’s workshop speakers, who are each bringing their expertise to lead dedicated sessions:
• Renée Beer - EMDR with Children and Adolescents
• Vania Miteva - Cognitive Interweaves: Skills and Confidence
• Chris Lee - EMDR and Chronic Depression
We sincerely thank Renée, Vania and Chris for the time, care and depth of knowledge they bring to these workshops; your contribution is a valued part of the conference.
There is still time to register, and workshops can be booked even if you’re not attending the main conference (registration is separate).

Board Update | Welcoming New Directors & Thanking Outgoing Members
We’re pleased to welcome three new Directors to the EMDRAA Board: Dr Belinda Harris, Dr Sarah Schubert, and Max von Sabler.
Each brings a wealth of experience across clinical practice, leadership, research, and education, along with a strong commitment to supporting practitioners and advancing the EMDR field. We look forward to the expertise and perspectives they will contribute.
We also extend our sincere thanks to Dr Karen Klockner and Andrew Cameron, who are stepping down from the Board.
Karen has been a valued contributor since October 2022, bringing a strong member voice and expertise in risk management to Board discussions.
Andrew, who joined as an Independent Director in September 2023, has provided important legal insight across commercial, contractual, and governance matters.
We thank them both for their time, care, and contribution to EMDRAA, and wish them all the very best.
Please join us in welcoming our new Directors and acknowledging Karen and Andrew for their valued service.

How therapy can prevent justice + Nationals leader quits
The Briefing · Episode
10/03/2026
ABC News recently featured Dr Katie Bird, who shared her experience of receiving EMDR therapy following trauma and how it helped her process what happened and reach a point where she felt able to report her alleged offender.
The story also raised questions about how EMDR therapy may be interpreted under legal precedents originally developed around hypnosis. While both approaches involve eye movements, EMDR is a distinct, evidence-based therapy supported by a growing body of scientific research.
As the peak body for EMDR therapy in Australia, EMDRAA works to support informed, research-based discussion of EMDR and to promote access to accurate, evidence-based information about the therapy.
We are grateful to Dr Katie Bird for sharing her experience, Sarah Dominguez and David Batten for providing a demonstration, and to the journalists involved for exploring this complex issue.
