The art of writing is a complex skill to acquire. It requires constant guidance, modelling and practice. It also requires the student's ability to compose and express ideas in an organised manner. The planning process plays a very significant role in assisting students synthesise their ideas. Through our guidance, our year 4 student's writing skills have enhanced greatly! Swipe to see some of our students' spelling progress so far. We conduct a pre-test before implementing the Acquire Literacy Program and a post test the following session. This allows us to assess our students' learning and directs our future teaching instruction.

Research in Literacy education identifies a lack of phonological awareness to be a contributing factor in the declining literacy skills across Australia.
