FROM BULB TO BLOOM: Our four-year-old Kindergarten children at Niño ELA Elsternwick have begun an exciting Term 2 project exploring the world of plants, bringing nature, curiosity, and discovery into their everyday environment.
In the classroom, little learners are nurturing onion sprouts alongside a collection of “mystery bulbs,” observing change over time while developing patience, responsibility, and care for living things.
This exploration has extended into a green grocer and florist space, where children step into new roles, spark rich conversations, and connect ideas about plants, people, and the world around them.
Through this journey, children are building confidence, creativity, and a growing sense of wonder about the natural world.
PRINTS OF IMAGINATION: As part of their term project on dinosaurs, our little niños explored printmaking in a creative and unexpected way, using dinosaur toy feet dipped in paint to create textured patterns across the page.
As they stamped, stomped, and rolled their dinosaur friends, children noticed the unique prints each one made, sparking ideas about which dinosaur they might belong to. This experience encouraged curiosity and imagination, while supporting early understandings of cause and effect and creative expression through play.

PLAYFUL PRECISION: As part of the Achievers’ Term project exploring animals, the little niños have been investigating the unique characteristics that make each creature distinctive.
Extending this learning, the children engaged in an experience carefully inserting toothpicks into cardboard to recreate an echidna’s prickly pelt. This intentional invitation supported the development of their pincer grip, strengthening the small muscles essential for early writing, coordination, and everyday tasks.

DINOSAUR DISCOVERY: Our three-year-old kindergarteners have been discovering the fascinating world of dinosaurs this term, guided by curiosity and wonder. Along the way, they’ve learned about different species while imagining stories of prehistoric landscapes and ancient life.
To extend this interest, our little niños engaged in a colour-sorting experience, grouping toy dinosaurs by hue. This playful activity supports early categorisation, strengthens observation and thinking skills, and encourages children to form meaningful connections in their learning.
Through these experiences, our young learners are building strong foundations while engaging with a topic that sparks imagination.

CRAFTING COMMUNITY: Our little niños are exploring community helpers this term, and as an extension of this learning, they transformed recycled cardboard into a vibrant fire station.
This project aligned perfectly with the week’s focus on firefighters, offering children the opportunity to collaborate, role-play, and problem-solve while bringing their imaginative ideas to life. Each brushstroke and creative choice allowed them to express individuality, develop teamwork skills, and understand the vital role firefighters play in their community.
We love seeing our niños build, create, and connect through playful, purposeful learning that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

A DROP OF DISCOVERY: In the nursery, children have been exploring the magic of colour as part of their term project. This week’s experience invited them to create their own “rain clouds,” transforming learning into a moment of quiet discovery.
Using a pipette, one little niño carefully released drops of blue dye — the colour of the week — into soft, fluffy clouds, observing as the colour slowly travelled through the cotton like falling rain.
This sensory-rich exploration introduced early scientific concepts such as cause and effect, while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and thoughtful observation.
