After creating their very own cards, the children brought their messages to life by writing, adding stamps and posting them themselves. They discovered how mail travels from one place to another, turning a familiar part of everyday life into a hands-on learning experience within their local community.

A SPACE TO FLOURISH: A thoughtfully created outdoor space for our kindergarten children has blossomed into a place where curiosity, creativity, and imagination come to life through play.

The niños have been enjoying their immersive mud kitchen and garden-flanked sandpit, where everyday moments become opportunities to experiment, create, and imagine. From mixing nature-inspired recipes in the mud kitchen to building imaginative worlds in the sand, these experiences encourage collaboration, problem-solving, and creative thinking.

DISCOVERING STORIES & TRADITIONS: This week, our little niños proudly commemorated NAIDOC Week through experiences that honoured the rich histories, cultures, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Using clapping sticks, rocks, and Aboriginal symbols as inspiration, they explored storytelling, creativity, and cultural understanding through art and interactive play.

Curiosity continued as everyone discovered how First Nations peoples traditionally made black paint by crushing charcoal and mixing it with water, offering a meaningful sensory connection to traditional practices.

Together, these experiences fostered respect, curiosity, and a deeper appreciation of Australia's First Nations peoples while strengthening each child's sense of belonging.

FROM BULB TO BLOOM: Our four-year-old Kindergarten children at Niño ELA Elsternwick have begun an exciting Term 2 project exploring the world of plants, bringing nature, curiosity, and discovery into their everyday environment.

In the classroom, little learners are nurturing onion sprouts alongside a collection of “mystery bulbs,” observing change over time while developing patience, responsibility, and care for living things.

This exploration has extended into a green grocer and florist space, where children step into new roles, spark rich conversations, and connect ideas about plants, people, and the world around them.

Through this journey, children are building confidence, creativity, and a growing sense of wonder about the natural world.

PRINTS OF IMAGINATION: As part of their term project on dinosaurs, our little niños explored printmaking in a creative and unexpected way, using dinosaur toy feet dipped in paint to create textured patterns across the page.

As they stamped, stomped, and rolled their dinosaur friends, children noticed the unique prints each one made, sparking ideas about which dinosaur they might belong to. PLAYFUL PRECISION: As part of the Achievers’ Term project exploring animals, the little niños have been investigating the unique characteristics that make each creature distinctive.

Extending this learning, the children engaged in an experience carefully inserting toothpicks into cardboard to recreate an echidna’s prickly pelt. This intentional invitation supported the development of their pincer grip, strengthening the small muscles essential for early writing, coordination, and everyday tasks.
