To avoid visitor visas being used as a way to subvert offshore student visa integrity checks, the Government will be increasing the imposition of “no further stay” conditions on visitor visas. If a prospective student is offshore and looking to come to Australia as a student, then they should apply for a student visa offshore.

📌 485 - Temporary Graduate visa TGV from IELTS 6.0 to 6.5 (or equivalent1), with a minimum score of 5.5 to 6.0 for each component of the test (reading, writing, speaking and listening) in Early 2024
📌Student visa The Government will increase the minimum score required to undertake a packaged ELICOS from IELTS 4.5 to 5.0. University Foundation or Pathway programs
- The test score required for students undertaking university foundation or pathway programs that deliver English language training will be IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent).

From 25 November 2023* the Australian Government will be making changes to the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) (subclass 482) and Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream of the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) (subclass 186) visas to provide a simpler and clearer pathway to permanent residence for TSS visa holders.
