MEGA Western Port Calamari 🦑 🥵.
After some Gummy Shark action offshore Friday morning, a quick flick before returning to the boat ramp was in order. This kraken hit the jig hard and pulsed away taking some serious string with it 💨 🦑. Now onwards is the time we start to see some really big Calamari here locally on the shallow w**d banks and heavy reefs offshore🪸.

It’s not just about the Gummy/School Sharks on the offshore reefs! Big Calamari 🦑 thrive offshore, harassing the bait fish that call reef their home. With our water temperature declining, expect more of these guys on show out there!
The Hardz Squid jigs in size 4.0 have been a game changer in the deep water offshore. Sinking down into the strike zone quickly and darting hard with its large profile. White Beauty has been a stand out on these offshore Squid.

Gummy Sharks on 🔥 offshore this morning! 🦈
Keen for some Gummy Shark action I set off on a solo mission out the front. After sounding out some ground it didn’t take long for some serious line burning action! This big girl buckled the Samurai rod tip to the water screaming off hard and didn’t look like stopping💨. Rounded out the session with 3 more fish hitting the deck, releasing 2 and keeping 2. Plenty of fresh flake to go round 🍽️.
8/0 Nano Alpha Inline Circle proving to be a formidable hook choice, penetrating fast and holding strong. 🪝

Thursdays Calamari catch on Western Port 🦑.
Good to find a few more numbers in the port once again. I feel like it’s been slimmer pickings than previous seasons, hopefully it builds from here 👌🏻. Ryan and I fell just shy of our double bag, but the average size makes up for it for sure.

Why are king george whiting called king george whiting❓
They were first recorded by early European explorers in King George Sound WA, a location named after King George III. The name stuck, and now they’re one of Australia’s most iconic table fish.
Why are Victorians so obsessed with the Gamakatsu Shiner hook?
Because they know how effective a simple, clean bait presentation is. The Shiner is the staple hook of King George anglers.
Sam and his crew giving us the proof with an epic King George session on Shiners💪

Big Western Port Calamari 🦑 🥵 .
Nice to change it up from fishing the bay this morning. Launching solo with the sunrise 🌅, the Squid were tough to find but i managed 7 with some really nice hoods. Ripper weather too.
