In our Dagma room, we observed a wonderful learning moment during outdoor play. One child picked up a brush and started sweeping the leaves from the playground. She showed great initiative and a strong sense of responsibility for her environment. Through this experience, she is developing independence, confidence, and an understanding of caring for shared spaces. She is also strengthening her fine and gross motor skills while using the brush and building social awareness by contributing positively to her learning community.

Science in Action: Colour-Changing Mushrooms!

Today our little scientists took part in a fun and fascinating experiment to see how mushrooms can “drink” coloured water — just like flowers do! The children carefully poured water into small cups, added different food colours, and then placed white mushrooms inside. After Few minutes they noticed something amazing happening… the mushrooms began to change colour! They watched closely as the colours slowly travelled up the stems and spread into the tops.

Through this hands-on activity, the children were introduced to the science concepts of absorption and capillary action in an exciting and memorable way. A wonderful mix of curiosity, discovery, and learning.

The kinder children had a wonderful hands-on cooking experience making pancakes. They helped mix the ingredients and talked about what goes into the recipe, learning the names and purposes of each item. As the pancakes cooked, the children observed the changes in texture and smell, building their understanding of how food is prepared. They enjoyed eating their pancakes with fresh berries, which also encouraged healthy eating discussions.

Through this experience, the children developed early math skills, language skills, teamwork, and confidence while following simple cooking steps.

The children created their own bins using recycled boxes, and educators guided them on what items belong in each bin. Through this hands-on activity, they learned how to sort waste correctly, understand the difference between recycling and rubbish, and develop a sense of responsibility for caring for the environment.

In our Da Gama room, the children have been showing a growing interest in our Practical Life experiences. Following a child’s curiosity about the scent of candles, we introduced candle shaving as a beautiful extension. The children loved exploring the texture and movement of grating the wax, engaging their senses while building focus and fine-motor control.
