A LITTLE TIME, A LOT OF LOVE: We recently celebrated Father’s Day by welcoming our wonderful fathers and special people into the centre for a delightful afternoon tea.

It was a beautiful opportunity to pause, connect, and enjoy quality time with our children through delicious treats, cheerful conversations, and shared moments with the people who mean so much to them.

We loved seeing the children proudly welcome their special guests into their learning environment and share a glimpse of their day with them.

Thank you to all the fathers and special people who joined us. Your presence made the celebration all the more meaningful, and we hope the afternoon was as memorable for you as it was for us.

STORIES COME TO LIFE: Book Week is a celebration of the stories, characters and adventures that sparked our imaginations. This year, our little niños and team stepped into the pages of their favourite books, dressing up as much-loved characters and bringing stories to life through play and exploration.

Inspired by ‘The Three Little Pigs’, the children enjoyed engaging experiences that encouraged creativity and imagination as they explored the story through play. From familiar favourites to new adventures, the centre was filled with colour, creativity and plenty of fun.

It was wonderful to see our children and educators sharing in the joy of bringing beloved characters to life and celebrating the books that inspire us.

BOOKS & BEYOND: Our little niños ventured into the community for a special visit to the local library, where two rooms enjoyed separate excursions filled with curiosity, connection, and wonder.

The children explored the wonderful world of books, learned how libraries bring stories and communities together, and immersed themselves in a different learning environment. Our kindergarten children proudly wore their handmade library cards around their necks, excited to experience what it means to be a library member.

These experiences foster early literacy, encourage independence, and nurture a lifelong love of reading while helping children build meaningful connections with their local community.

UP CLOSE & WILD: The little niños were captivated by a centre-wide wildlife incursion, bringing the wonder of native Australian animals directly into their learning environment.

This hands-on encounter allowed the children to gently interact with reptiles, mammals, and birds while developing a deeper understanding of animal characteristics, habitats, life cycles, and behaviours.

More than just a fun experience, the incursion nurtured curiosity, empathy, and respect for living things, reflecting the foundations of our inquiry-based approach to learning.

FROM LITTLE NIÑOS TO PRIMARY SCHOOLERS: A former little niño returned to Niño ELA Chadstone with her father to give our four-year-old kindergarten children a first-hand glimpse into life at primary school.

Through stories, conversations, and first-hand experiences, the children gained an insight into school life, discovering new routines, friendships, exciting learning opportunities, and the adventures that await beyond early learning.

Hearing from someone who once sat in their very own classroom helped make the transition feel familiar, building confidence and excitement for the next step in their learning journey.

At Niño ELA, we know that preparing children for school is about more than developing academic skills—it's about nurturing confident, capable learners who are ready to embrace their next chapter.

HAIR-RAISING FUN: Wild colours, wacky styles, and plenty of smiles filled our centre as our little niños and team came together for Crazy Hair Day in support of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation.

From colourful curls to gravity-defying creations, everyone embraced the fun while helping raise funds for a charity dedicated to keeping children safe from violence and supporting their recovery from trauma.

A heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful families and educators who got involved and helped make the day such a vibrant success.

HOPPING INTO OUR HEARTS: There has been plenty of excitement at the centre as our little niños welcomed a very special temporary resident—Peta the rabbit!

Peta’s visit has brought daily opportunities for wonder, connection, and discovery. As the children gently interacted with her, carefully observed her behaviours, and helped care for her, they explored what rabbits need to feel safe and healthy while developing empathy, responsibility, and respect for all living things.

These shared experiences sparked meaningful conversations, inspired curiosity about the natural world, and encouraged the children to recognise that even the smallest acts of kindness and care can make a big difference.

A TASTE OF COMMUNITY: A visit to The South Levain offered an exciting opportunity to connect with the local community and discover the inner workings of a café.

Behind the scenes, the little niños observed how food and drinks are prepared, gaining insight into the teamwork, care, and processes involved in running a café. Through thoughtful questions and exploration of different roles, they discovered how local places contribute to the community.

Experiences like these extend learning beyond the classroom, helping children build confidence, develop an understanding of the world around them, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

CELEBRATING CULTURE & CONNECTION: Throughout NAIDOC Week, our little niños participated in meaningful learning that celebrated the rich cultures, histories, and enduring contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Through hands-on exploration, the children created their own yarning sticks, learning how these traditional tools support storytelling, listening, sharing, and connection. They also explored natural materials and used playdough in the colours of the Aboriginal Flag, encouraging creativity while developing an appreciation for its colours, symbols, and cultural meaning.

These activities sparked curiosity, encouraged respectful conversations, and supported our little niños in developing a deeper understanding of and respect for First Nations cultures and traditions.
