Last week, our Four-Year-Old Kindergarten children had some very special visitors from Bayswater Primary School!

The wonderful students joined us for a morning filled with engaging educational experiences, working alongside our kinder children through a variety of fun and interactive learning activities. From sharing stories and solving puzzles to collaborating on hands-on games, it was heartwarming to see the friendships, teamwork and confidence blossom throughout the visit.

Experiences like these provide our children with valuable opportunities to build connections within their local community while helping to make the transition to primary school feel exciting and familiar. Thank you to the amazing students and staff from Bayswater Primary School for spending the morning with us—we can't wait to welcome you back again soon!

Our Kindergarten children recently enjoyed a wonderful excursion to Lux Cuts & Colour, our local hairdresser located just a few shops down from PLAY Childcare & Kindergarten!

What made this visit even more special was that it all began with the children's own curiosity. After noticing a growing interest in hairdressing through their play, conversations, and dramatic play experiences, the children began asking questions about what happens at a real salon. Together, we planned an excursion to explore their interests and extend their learning beyond the classroom.

During our visit, the children had the opportunity to see the salon in action, learn about the different tools hairdressers use, ask lots of thoughtful questions, and discover what it's like to work as a hairdresser. One of the highlights of the morning was getting hands-on as the children helped wash the mannequins' hair in the salon basin—just like real hairdressers! It was a fantastic learning experience that brought their curiosity to life.

A huge thank you to Karen for so generously welcoming us into the salon, allowing the children to experience washing the mannequins' hair, and for sending every child home with their very own colourful hair extension clips. Your kindness, patience, and enthusiasm made the excursion incredibly memorable, and the children were absolutely thrilled with their special gifts! 💖

Today, our Nursery 2 children enjoyed a wonderful excursion to our local library, where they spent the morning exploring a fantastic selection of books, joining in with songs, and challenging themselves with puzzles. It was a fun-filled experience that encouraged curiosity, language development, problem-solving, and a love of learning.

Excursions aren't just for the big kids! 💙 Our youngest learners benefit enormously from getting out into the community, experiencing new environments, building confidence, developing social skills, and creating meaningful connections with the world around them.

Yesterday, our Toddler children headed off on an exciting excursion to Jurassic Jungle Bayswater, where they enjoyed getting up close with an amazing variety of reptiles and aquatic creatures.

The children were fascinated as they explored the displays, spotting snakes, turtles, fish, lizards, and many other incredible reptiles. It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience that sparked lots of curiosity, conversation, and excitement as they discovered more about these unique animals and their habitats.

We love providing opportunities for our children to explore the world around them, build confidence through new experiences, and create lasting memories. 💚

A heartfelt thank you to one of our wonderful PLAY families, Sam, who generously spent the morning with our Pre Kinder children sharing her culture through beautiful Indigenous art and traditional techniques.

The children were captivated as they listened, created, explored, and learnt about the significance of Aboriginal art and the stories it can tell. Experiences like these provide meaningful opportunities for our children to develop a deeper appreciation and respect for Australia's rich First Nations cultures and histories.

Thank you, Sam, for sharing your knowledge, creativity, and culture with us. We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside you and celebrate the importance of connection, community, and belonging during NAIDOC Week.

Our Toddler children have had so much fun exploring all things creepy crawly during Bug Week!

Throughout the week, the children immersed themselves in a variety of hands-on learning experiences, including exciting bug scavenger hunts, creative fossil crafts, and colourful bug-inspired paintings. These activities encouraged curiosity, exploration, and creativity while helping the children learn more about the fascinating world of insects and minibeasts.

It has been wonderful to watch the children investigate, discover, and share their excitement as they learned about the tiny creatures that live all around us. From searching for bugs outdoors to creating their own bug-themed masterpieces, every day was filled with fun and learning!

This week, our Kindergarten children were lucky enough to visit Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School for a wonderful morning of exploration and learning!

The children enjoyed spending time in the school library, discovering new books and experiencing what it's like to learn in a primary school setting. They also had the opportunity to explore the school grounds, helping to build confidence and familiarity as they prepare for their transition to school.

One of the highlights of the visit was joining in a buddy program with some of the Grade 4 students. The children loved making new friends, participating in activities together, and learning from their older buddies.

Experiences like these are invaluable in supporting children's confidence, independence, and excitement about starting school. We are so grateful to the staff and students at Our Lady of Lourdes for making us feel so welcome! 💙✨

Our Kindergarten children enjoyed an exciting excursion to Bayswater Library this morning, where they had the opportunity to explore stories, engage with the library environment, and learn about the wonderful resources available within our community.

The highlight of the visit was a special presentation from members of Knox Police, who spoke with the children about their important role in keeping our community safe. The children were fascinated as they learned about police work, asked lots of thoughtful questions, and had the chance to interact with the officers.

Excursions like these provide valuable opportunities for children to build connections within their local community, develop confidence in new environments, and extend their learning beyond the classroom.

Our Kinder group enjoyed another fantastic day of Bush Kinder last week, proving once again that a little wet weather won't stop us from having fun! 🌿☔

Wrapped up warm and ready for adventure, the children embraced everything nature had to offer, exploring the outdoors, splashing through puddles, and discovering the many changes that come with winter weather.

Bush Kinder provides endless opportunities for children to build resilience, confidence, and a connection with the natural world. We love seeing their excitement and curiosity shine through, no matter the weather!
