A very timely storage tip I’ll be giving a try. I have an abundant supply of juicy lemons 🍋 at the moment and just today had to discard a few that had been picked as they were quite mouldy. 🤢
With the rest of the picked lemons I had, I made lemon sorbet and paleo lemon gummy lollies (thank-you Thermomix!)
📦 STORAGE TIP 📦
💦 Did you know submerging your lemons in a bowl of water is the best way to store them?
🍋 When lemons lose moisture they start to mould or rot. So, not only does it preserve them, but it also helps keep them juicy!
Leave a '🍋' if you try/already do this
Here's what we did:
🌱 Lots of citrus fruits have a layer of wax on the outside, either naturally or sprayed on. You can wash them free from wax, pesticides or handling germs in two ways.
👆 The first way is using the Natural Fruit & Vegetable Wash, you can put the lemons into a bowl with a pump of the wash and follow the directions.
✌️ The second way is to soak them in a half water and half vinegar mixture for a few minutes.
🌱 Give them a quick rinse and place them in your new lemon container or bowl.
📣 PSA: Don’t forget to use the remaining water for your plants
