We’re so proud and excited to share that our Little Scientists House Certificate has just arrived! This achievement is a wonderful recognition of our commitment to inspiring curiosity, exploration, discovery and a love of STEM in our children.

Today, our Astra leadership team came together for a meaningful day of connection, reflection and shared learning. 💛

These moments give us the opportunity to think deeply together...sharing perspectives, challenging our thinking and strengthening the vision that connects us across Astra.

We were incredibly grateful to be joined by Ruth from REAIE (Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange), who supported us in exploring the important role we hold as early childhood professionals, not only as educators and leaders, but as advocates for children, their rights, their safety and the value of early childhood education...Together we reflected on our current projects, child safety and wellbeing, quality practice, Assessment & Rating, community connections and the possibilities still ahead of us.

Because strong services begin with leaders who are willing to listen, reflect, question and grow together.

Little Scientists STEM Award 🐜

A huge shout-out to our Eagle Room children and teachers!

Our kindergarten children and teachers entered the Little Scientists Early STEM Education Awards with their inquiry project exploring ants. While we didn’t win the State Award, our project was recognised by the Little Scientists panel from a record number of nominations across Australia for demonstrating a strong understanding of inquiry-based STEM learning.

We’re also incredibly excited that our centre will be certified as a Little Scientists House! What a fantastic achievement and wonderful recognition of the curiosity, learning and dedication of our Eagle Room children and teachers. We’re so proud of our team and children! 🌱.

We recently had the privilege of working alongside Skyla from Living Culture to create a collaborative mural that now proudly welcomes everyone into our kindergarten yard. Before beginning our artwork, Skyla shared with us the meaning behind certain Aboriginal symbols and how they can tell stories, represent places, and honour important connections to Country.

We reflected on the special places that are part of our Kindergarten journey, including Bush Kinder and Beach Kinder. Together, we created a mural that represents our connection to the land, local plants, animals and birds.

The flowing blue lines represent our shared journey and connection to Country, while the symbols, birds and coastal banksia tell the story of the places we explore,the relationships we build and our respect for the natural world around us.
