š Public Education Inspiring Excellence in the Upper Blue Mountains š
This Public Education Week, weāre celebrating what makes public education so special ā the belief that every student deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths, pursue their passions and reach their own unique potential.
Across NSW, public schools are delivering outstanding results and opening pathways to success. Seven of the top ten HSC schools in the state are public, and public school students are achieving above the national average in NAPLAN literacy and numeracy benchmarks.
Here in the Upper Blue Mountains, our nine public schools work as one vibrant community, providing seamless transitions, inclusive environments, diverse learning pathways, and opportunities for every child to thrive from their first days at school through to Year 12 and beyond.
Each of our schools has its own character, strengths and stories. But together, we share a vision built on equity, excellence, care and community.
Most importantly, we know that excellence looks different for every student. It might be discovering a passion for STEM, music or the arts. It might be finding confidence, developing a love of learning, connecting with culture and community, excelling in sport, or simply discovering something they didnāt know they were capable of.
The diverse learning opportunities and success pathways provided by the public education network allow young people to achieve their goals in whatever field they are passionate about or interested in. From scientists and astronauts to artists, athletes, lawyers and leaders, many of Australiaās most accomplished people began their journey in a public school.
Public education can be the beginning of an extraordinary journey ā whatever a studentās interests, strengths or aspirations may be. Thatās the power of public education ā creating possibilities, opening doors and helping every young person find their own path to success.
This week, we celebrate the students, teachers, staff, families and communities who make the nine schools of our Upper Blue Mountains Learning Community such vibrant places to learn, belong and grow.
