Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful fathers and father-figures! 💕

On Wednesday last week, we celebrated the devoted dads in our lives with our annual Father’s Day breakfast and chapel service.

The special gathering provided families with an opportunity to spend time together at the college, enjoying croissants, coffee and cake before gathering for a special chapel service. 🫶

Thank you to all our families who joined us and helped make the morning such a warm and memorable occasion. 🫶

It's has been one week since more than 300 of Tatachilla Lutheran College’s disco dancers 🕺💃 hit the dance floor 🔮 to showcase their moves at the 2026 Junior Years Disco.

And we're still spinning around thinking about all the fun everyone had on the night! 🥳

Our dedicated junior years team created a photo booth, 📸 complete with dress-up costumes 🕶 so our students could change up their look on the night. Many of the young revellers jumped at the chance to accessorise their outfit with big glasses, hats and scarves.

Students snacked on popcorn 🍿and sipped juice 🥤to keep their energy levels up while parents relaxed and chatted as they enjoyed the delicious food truck dinner options 😋 outside.

The annual event is a wonderful opportunity for the college community to connect, have fun and raise funds along the way. 🙌

A big thank you to everyone in our community who helped make the event such a memorable night. 🫶

Three cheers for our talented Year 12 chemistry students 👏👏👏 . Our budding young scientists have taken out a Gold 🥇and two Silver awards🥈at the 2026 Royal Australian Chemical Institute’s Titration Competition. 🥳

The skilled students turned their lab work into gold and sliver after they excelled in the school’s phase of the competition, qualifying for the state final at Adelaide University on 29 August. 🏆

The high performers seized the chance to work in a university laboratory 🔬where they went head-to-head with other schools and put their titration skills to the test. Our students’ skill, experience and confidence shone through against some tough competition, with Kearni taking out a Gold Award and Tom and Nirike winning Silver.

We are so proud of our winners and our chemistry cohort for their efforts, ambition and growth this year 🫶. Our chemistry students are exemplary ambassadors for our college community. 🌟

This year is the second year in a row that our senior chemistry students have made it through to the final, and we’re looking forward to competing again in 2027. Onwards and upwards! 🙌

The opening night of our Photography Exhibition will take place next Thursday 10 September, 6:00pm start in the Activity Centre at the college. All are welcome to attend - come and see the incredible talent of our Year 12 photography students!

On one of the college’s most colourful and creative days, our campus came to life with characters from treasured books for our annual Book Week dress-up day. 📚🤩

The dress-up parade brought us everything from dalmatians to Dorothys, Matildas to Minions, witches to Wallys – and even a jellyfish or two! 🪼🪼

This year’s theme, ‘Symphony of Stories’, saw our talented student musicians accompany a reading of Wombat Stew by special guest Sue Matena, a past Junior Years Performing Arts teacher who spent seventeen years at the college. 🎶📚

It was a fun day on the calendar for all, with our Year 12 students joining in the dress-up fun and leading our excitable Junior Years students across the stage for their parade. 🌟

Our annual Bake-a-Book competition also saw a record 133 entries, filling the library with the sweet smell of icing and chocolate! Congratulations to everyone who baked their favourite book into life. 🎂📕 Look out for next week’s newsletter for a list of our winning entries.

A huge thank you to our library staff and House Coordinators for organising another wonderful Book Week and for continuing to promote the joy of reading across our college community. ❤️📚

Hats off to our green-fingered Junior School students for taking part in our annual Tree Planting Week and making a positive contribution to the college EcoSanctuary. 🙌

Throughout the week, students from Reception to Year 6 teamed up with their buddy classes to plant native grasses 🌿, trees, shrubs and groundcovers.

Each new planting was carefully selected by our expert EcoSanctuary team to create important habitat (food sources and shelter) for our resident brush-tailed bettongs, long-nosed potoroos and local birdlife.

Our Planting Week event gives students a hands-on understanding of habitat restoration and highlights the importance of caring for our local environment ♻️ and native wildlife 🦘.

It's a meaningful opportunity for students to contribute to a real conservation project and increase biodiversity within our very own EcoSanctuary. And it enables our students to develop environmental stewardship, teamwork and a deeper understanding of the role native vegetation plays in supporting local wildlife and the long-term health and resilience of the ecosystem.

It was wonderful to see students of all ages working side by side, helping one another with digging 👩‍🌾, planting and watering 💦. There were plenty of muddy hands and shoes along the way, but the students embraced the experience, having fun while getting stuck into some important conservation work! 🫶

Students became the teachers 👩‍🏫 when our senior and junior students teamed up to learn, create and share their passion for art. 👨‍🎨

Inspired by a college excursion to the Monet to Matisse: Defying Tradition exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia, our Year 11 students mentored their Year 1 buddies during a ‘plein-air’ (outdoor painting) session and turned the college's beautiful EcoSanctuary into an outdoor art studio 🙌.

Drawing on Monet’s techniques, the Year 11 students shared ‘Monet’s Secrets’ with our Year 1 students, introducing them to ‘shadow magic’ using cool blues and purples instead of black, as well as dabbing techniques to ‘catch the light’ with watercolours 🎨 🖌.

As our Year 1 mini-Monets explored the natural environment through the eyes of an artist, our Year 11 students strengthened their own understanding and visual language by teaching others.

The experience was a wonderful example of our senior and junior students learning together and building connections across the college 🫶.

Earlier this month, our Year 6 students went on a Young Environmental Leaders (YELP) excursion at Antonio Catholic School, in Morphett Vale. They were joined by students from schools across the southern area for a day of collaboration, leadership and environmental education. ♻️

The young learners worked on activities with an environmental focus. Together, they created newspaper buckets for collecting food scraps, made clay animals, explored character strengths that support effective teamwork, and developed group projects that they’ll present at the final YELP Forum in Term 4. 🙌

Our students wrapped up their nature-filled day with a tour of Antonio Catholic School’s environmental programs and initiatives, including the school’s bird box project. Using a pole-mounted camera, our Year 6s were able to look inside a nesting box, and in a truly magic moment, spotted two rainbow lorikeet eggs. 🐣

We’re proud of the enthusiasm, teamwork and leadership our students showed throughout the day 🫶. They connected with other school students and learned more about the environment while living our college values of kinship and growth. Good job, Year 6! 👏 👏 👏
