Students enjoyed an evening of fun and friendly competition at the Year 11 Games Night, with highlights including the doughnut-eating contest, musical chairs and guessing baby photos.

A special thank you to the Games Night Committee, Ormond Ice Creamery, our AV team and Year 11 student managers for helping bring the evening together, and to all the students who came along and made it such an enjoyable night!

We’ve had a wonderful week celebrating all things books, with today’s book-themed dress-up day bringing some fantastic costumes to McKinnon!

It was wonderful to see our students embracing their favourite books and characters. What a fantastic way to celebrate the joy of reading!

McKinnon Secondary College and Glen Eira Old McKinnon Football Club are coming together to promote respect and take a stand against gender-based violence.

Join us for a community football match, followed at half-time by a 16-minute community walk in solidarity with victim-survivors, to honour those whose lives have been lost, and to show our shared commitment to a future built on dignity, respect and equality.

Come and cheer on our Year 11 and 12 students as they take on current McKinnon staff and players from the Glen Eira Old McKinnon Football Club.

Last week was Science Week, and our students engaged in a wonderful selection of experiential learning activities across both campuses. It was fantastic to see their curiosity and enthusiasm in action!

McKinnon Secondary College’s annual Winter Concert brought together around 700 students, staff, families and friends for a memorable celebration of music-making.

The evening showcased the breadth, energy and high standards of our instrumental and choral programs, with students performing a rich variety of orchestral, wind, string, jazz and vocal works.

Across the evening, students performed with impressive focus and generosity of spirit. The support they showed for one another, both on and off stage, reflected the welcoming and collaborative culture that continues to define music at McKinnon.

Congratulations to all students involved, and thank you to our instrumental music and performing arts staff, MAV team and behind-the-scenes supporters for their expert direction, encouragement and countless hours of preparation.

The Winter Concert was a wonderful reminder of the talent, commitment and shared joy of music-making across the McKinnon community.

Our Year 11 and 12 Outdoor and Environmental Studies students recently headed to Lake Mountain for an action-packed day in the snow!

The excursion provided an opportunity to experience the alpine environment firsthand and put their outdoor skills to the test. The group explored the snowy landscape, built snowmen, raced down the toboggan slopes and enjoyed plenty of friendly snowball battles throughout the day.

It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved and making the most of the experience.

Today marks a special day; it is Victorian Principals' Day, an annual celebration to recognize the hard work, leadership, and dedication of school principals.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our own incredible principal, Mr Kan, who for the last 4 years has led McKinnon Secondary College with unwavering dedication and genuine care for every student, teacher and staff member. As our principal, Mr Kan has always placed students at the heart of every decision, inspiring countless along the way. The care, dedication and support he brings to the McKinnon community each and every day are a true reflection of what it means to be an outstanding principal.

On this Principal's Day, on behalf of the whole school, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr Kan for his outstanding leadership, dedication and service to the McKinnon community. This year's celebration is especially meaningful as Mr Kan prepares to retire at the end of the school year, marking the close of an incredible career in education. His legacy will be felt and continue to shape our school for years to come.

On behalf of the entire school community, we thank Mr Kan for everything he has given to McKinnon and wish him a wonderful Principal's Day.

On Friday 24 July, McKinnon Secondary College students gathered at Duncan Mackinnon athletics track for the Athletics Carnival. Students of all age groups participated in multiple events across the day representing their House in an incredible way.

Highlights of the day included the Staff versus House Captains relay and the first ever McKinnon gift. Students and staff also showcased their best 2000’s outfits!

Well done to all students who participated in the day and congratulations to those who have advanced to the Kingston Division competition. It was a great celebration of the McKinnon Secondary values and spirit!

Three McKinnon students were recognised at the Premier’s VCE Awards for achieving exceptional academic results in their final year of schooling last year.

Congratulations to Siena Nott for Top All-Round VCE High Achiever and Chemistry, Daniela Tapia Leal for Spanish undertaken at the Victorian School of Languages Distance Education, and Lamija Buturovic for Bosnian undertaken at the Victorian School of Languages.

Thank you to Ms Kellie Felmingham and Ms Kate Jobson for attending the ceremony, which was held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
