Today, Mrs. Bengtson from Bundaberg Canegrowers provided students and staff with a highly engaging and interactive learning experience focused on the sugar cane industry. Utilizing Virtual Reality (VR) headpieces, students participated in a simulated 360-degree digital experience that effectively transported them to a cane field, a train, and a sugar mill, where they observed a farmer at work, sugar being processed and shipped from the port. Through this experience, students gained firsthand knowledge of the process from planting to processing, which complemented their recent measurement and graphing of their plots’ average monthly growth.
Thank you Mrs B and Canegrowers Bundaberg for such an engaging experience!
👍Some comments from our students:
“I loved flying as the drone above the train - you could see the drone shadow below you. ”
“You were so close you could touch the cane”
“The mill was so real- I felt like I had to keep my hands in close so they didn’t get caught in the machinery. “
“I loved how it felt like I was sitting on top of the train.”
“You could look all around you and it was there, just like standing in the cane.”
“That was pretty cool”
