Mayfield East Public School WEMOOSH Before & After School Care

Calling all local businesses 👀

We’re putting together our Mother’s Day Stall and looking for local businesses who can supply around 50 items for the kids to buy as gifts.

We’re steering well clear of anything too traditionally “mum” (you know the kind… the gifts that somehow say “happy Mother’s Day, please do more housework” 😅) and aiming for things people actually want.

Think fun, useful, thoughtful, quirky, delicious or just plain great — coffee vouchers, candles, baked treats, plants, self-care goodies, socks, books, local treats, gift cards… you get the idea.

If you’ve got something stall-worthy and would like to be involved, we’d love to chat.

🎨 Colour Run – Looking for the Next Legend

The Colour Run has become one of the most loved events on the school calendar.

A huge thank you to Magda, who started the event and has run it every single year since. It has grown into something truly special for the kids and the community.

2026 will be Magda’s final year coordinating the event.

If no one steps forward to take it on, there will be no Colour Run in 2027.

We’re looking for someone — or a small team — willing to learn the ropes this year and carry it forward.

You won’t be starting from scratch.
You won’t be doing it alone.

You’ll simply be helping ensure one of our most loved events continues.

🔥 Election BBQ – Volunteers Needed

It’s looking very likely that we’ll have a local election soon, which means… BBQ time.

Our Election BBQ is one of the easiest and most effective fundraisers we run, but it only works if we have enough people to cover shifts.

We’re looking for volunteers to help with things like:

🌭 Cooking sausages
🥤 Serving drinks
💰 Handling the till
🙋 General helping

You don’t need to be there all day — even an hour or two makes a big difference.

If you can help, please message the P&C or email us and we’ll add you to the volunteer roster.

Many hands really do make light work on BBQ days.

🌱 What happens when you put three Bens in a garden together?
Apparently… a lot gets done. 😄

A huge thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves today for our Kitchen Garden Working Bee. The garden is looking so much better already and that’s entirely thanks to the incredible crew who came along to dig, w**d, haul, and generally make magic happen. It was even suggested that we are a clear contender to get a world record for our pile of w**ds!

Special thanks to Katie Thompson, our wonderful Kitchen Garden teacher, and the amazing Kallie, our Canteen Manager and Kitchen Garden extraordinaire, for guiding us and keeping everything moving.

Our superstar volunteers today were:

Henry, Zoe, Patrick, Emily, Ben, Isla, Asher, Laura, Harriet, Edison, Isobel, Scarlett

We survived ant bites, potential allergic reactions, rogue w**ds and a lot of dirt under fingernails, so we’re calling that a successful day in the garden. 🌿

Thank you again to everyone who came along – and to those who stayed for the sausage sizzle. These days only work because of our wonderful school community.

🌱 Kitchen Garden Working Bee – This Saturday

We’ve had a fantastic response so far to our upcoming working bee and we’d love to see as many people there as possible.

🗓 Saturday, 14 March
⏰ 9am – 3pm

Come for the whole time or just drop in for an hour between weekend sport and activities.

We’ll be refreshing garden beds, tidying spaces and tackling a few of the jobs that keep the program thriving.

👧 Kids are welcome with a parent/responsible adult.

🌭 Sausage sizzle and cold drinks for volunteers because we believe in feeding people who help.

If you’re planning to come, please send us a message or email the P&C so we can plan jobs (and sausage numbers).

We’re really looking forward to it!

📢 P&C AGM – Next Week

Next week is our P&C Annual General Meeting, where all committee positions are declared vacant and current members have the opportunity to step forward and take on an official role.

Positions we will be calling nominations for on the night include:

• President
• Vice President
• Vice President – Communications
• Treasurer
• Secretary
• Fundraising Coordinator

If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved in the school community, this is the moment.

New committee members will also become Persons of Management and Responsibility, which will be important as we prepare for the potential transition of WEMOOSH to a P&C-run OOSH service.

You can become a P&C member for $1, which allows you to vote at meetings and be part of decision making.

🌱🌻 Kitchen Garden Working Bee – Saturday, 14 March 🌻🌱

Ever looked at our school garden and thought,
“That looks amazing… I should probably help with that at some point”? or just wanted the opportunity to get a bit involved in one of the best things Mayfield East Public School offers?

Well. This is your official invitation.

We’re holding a Kitchen Garden Working Bee on Saturday, 14 March from 9am–3pm, and we would absolutely love some extra hands.

Before you panic:

👉 You do NOT have to stay all day.
👉 Come at 9am. Come at 11:37am. Come for an hour between sport drop-offs.
👉 We get it, Saturdays are busy.

No gardening experience required.
No special skills needed.
Just a willingness to pitch in.

👧🧒 Kids are welcome to come along with a parent/responsible adult.

🌭 Sausage sizzle lunch + cold drinks provided for volunteers (because we look after our people).

To help us plan for tools, jobs and sausage quantities, please comment below or send us a message to let us know you’re coming and roughly what time you think you’ll be there / for how long.

These days genuinely make a difference for our students and they’re actually a pretty lovely way to spend a few hours with other school families.

We’d love to see you there 🌿💚

A quick reminder - drop and go means exactly that!

🚗 Drop & Go Means… Drop and GO! 🚗

We’re saying this with love (and maybe a tiny side-eye): the morning drop-off zone isn’t a parking spot.

We get that staying in your car isn't always practical and you might need to hop out quickly to help with bags or a tricky seatbelt — but please don’t leave your car unattended and walk your child in. That’s where the problems start!

Unattended cars block the flow, cause frustration, and make mornings harder for everyone.

Let’s avoid handbags at dawn and claws out at the curb — we’ve got this 💙
