San Clemente Catholic College, Mayfield

7/8 Boys:
On Tuesday 11 August, our Year 7/8 Boys Netball team competed in the Netball NSW Schools Cup at National Park.
The boys began the day with two very close losses, but to their credit, they kept their heads high and continued to work hard as a team. A highlight of the day came in the next game, with a buzzer-beater goal securing a draw and giving the boys plenty of momentum heading into their final matches.
They finished the day strongly, winning their final two games and showing great improvement, teamwork and determination throughout the competition.
The boys should be extremely proud of their effort, behaviour and attitude across the entire day. They represented the school exceptionally well and should be congratulated on a fantastic effort!

The girls had a fantastic day on the netball court, showing determination, resilience and teamwork throughout.

After a strong start against Toronto, they fought hard but narrowly fell short.

Knowing they needed a win to make the finals, the girls responded with a great team performance to defeat Irrawang.

In the finals, they took to the court ready to play for one another and gave everything they had, but unfortunately went down to Trinity.

The girls had one placing game remaining against St Phillips. Despite tired legs, every player took the court and gave everything they had left, with incredible energy and effort shown across the court. In a nail-biting finish, the girls secured a very well-deserved one-point victory.

Every player should be very proud of the effort, energy and teamwork they displayed while representing the school. A special shoutout to Aaliyah who was an unstoppable force across all positions she played in. As well as Georgia who demonstrated exceptional resilience, teamwork, and strength in the defence.

A VERY special mention to Miss Brooker for her coaching role not just on the day but for the training sessions and organisation into the lead up of the day.

9/10 Girls:
A massive congratulations to our incredible senior girls — Mackenzie, Levayah, Tamia, Ava, Olivia, Lillia, Bailee, and Isla. They were nothing short of outstanding at today’s NSW Netball Gala Day, powering through the competition with grit, skill, and unwavering teamwork.

The girls delivered a phenomenal defensive effort, not allowing a single goal against them in the pool rounds, while piling on more than 70 goals in attack. They continued their dominance with a comfortable semi-final win before facing tough opposition in the grand final, coming away with a hard fought 16–14 victory.

So proud of this squad — they played with heart, hustle, and class from start to finish. What a brilliant group of young athletes.

9/10 Boys
A massive congratulations as well to our Senior Boys Netball squad - Declan, George, Archie, Oscar, Sonny, Chayse, Oliver, Zeke, and Masiale - who represented San Clemente proudly at the recent NSW Schools Cup Gala.

The boys had one simple game plan - win, though the team knew this wouldn't come easy. Discussions at the start of the day were that the boys needed to prioritise patience, to trust their skills, and to work together as a team.

The 'Doves' personified each of those characteristics, which mean they came away undefeated against Cardiff High School, Newcastle High School, Whitebridge High School and Newcastle Grammar School.

The boys would go on to score almost 80 goals, whilst only conceding 18, across 4 games - an incredible result to say the least. Huge shoutouts need to go to George who was exceptional all day in defence, Zeke and Chayse - our sharpshooters, and the rest of the team for their involvement in such a successful day. The team wore their school badge with pride.

San Clemente Catholic College's first cohort of Vocational Education and Training (VET) Hospitality and Construction students have been actively engaged in a range of industry placements throughout the year.
We are proud to share that several students have already been offered apprenticeship and employment opportunities, a testament to their dedication, commitment, and willingness to embrace new learning experiences.
These opportunities allow our VET students to further explore their passions while taking significant and meaningful steps towards future career pathways. Experiences such as these provide invaluable hands-on learning, strengthen industry partnerships, and build students' confidence in authentic workplace settings.
We are sincerely grateful to our industry partners and local businesses for their ongoing support and commitment to shaping the future of our young people through Vocational Education and Training. Together, we are helping students develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to thrive in the workforce.

Despite the cloudy skies, our Corpus Christi students shone brightly at today's North Region Soccer Gala Day, displaying excellent sportsmanship, resilience and enthusiasm throughout the competition.

From the sidelines to the soccer fields, the spirit of our school community was on full display. Thank you to our parent volunteers, staff members and organisers whose hard work ensured such a successful day for everyone involved.

A special highlight was seeing Corpus Christi alumni from San Clemente return to support our students. It was a wonderful reminder of the strong connections within our school community.

The new Player of the Match initiative was also a great success, and we can't wait to celebrate these students and their achievements back at school.

Northern NSW Football Newcastle Jets Catholic Schools of Maitland-Newcastle

A huge congratulations to Luke, Alex, Alex, Micah and Ezra - “RITMO”, who represented San Clemente so brilliantly at the diocesan Battle of the Bands. They did themselves, their families and the College proud.

Their performance showcased not only musical skill, but also the dedication, teamwork and growth that comes from hours of practice and commitment. Playing with confidence, precision and genuine connection as an ensemble, they demonstrated a level of cohesion and musicianship well beyond their years.

These photos capture some fantastic moments from a memorable night and celebrate the courage it takes to step onto a stage and perform in front of an audience. Every student from every school who stepped onto the stage deserves recognition for sharing their talents and giving their best.

Ms James, Mr Cowley and Mrs South were incredibly proud to be there cheering them on alongside their family and friends, celebrating an outstanding performance and a wonderful achievement.

San Clemente Catholic College proudly congratulates Year 10 students Malina, Isabelle and Benjamin, who have successfully secured a School-Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) with Leisure Employment Australia (LEA) following a highly competitive interview process.
Beginning in 2027, these students will combine their Stage 6 studies with paid employment and industry training while completing a Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation. Through the program, they will gain valuable hands-on experience and nationally recognised qualifications in areas such as pool lifeguarding, swimming and water safety, first aid, customer service and sports coaching.
We also commend all students who applied for the program. Every applicant represented themselves and San Clemente with confidence, professionalism and pride. The interview panel was highly impressed by the maturity, communication skills and workplace readiness demonstrated by our students, reflecting the values and high standards of our college community.
Well done, Malina, Isabelle and Benjamin. We look forward to following your journey and celebrating your future success!

The 9/10 Boys Representative Netball team had a very successful day out at the recent Diocesan Netball gala day.

The boys started strong with convincing wins to start the day. Winning 5 games in a row, the team were confident and relaxed.

We would go on to face the strong Trinity Catholic College team. It was here, the boys would be tested and the game would end in a draw.

Then, the team would face an even stronger St Josephs Aberdeen who came away with the win. This would be the 'Doves' only loss of the day.

The boys then went on to win their final two games, which meant that San Clemente were the overall Champions.

The team were outstanding throughout the day with their skills, though their attitude and sportsmanship are to be highlighted. They represented the College with pride, and are to be highly commended.

On Wednesday 29 July, our Year 7/8 Boys Netball team competed in the Diocesan Netball Day.
The boys played eight games throughout the day, recording six wins, a draw against St Francis Xavier’s College and one loss to Lochinvar. This was an outstanding result and reflected the effort, teamwork and determination they displayed in every match.
Most importantly, the boys represented the school exceptionally well. Their attitude, sportsmanship and support for one another were outstanding throughout the day. They should be extremely proud of their efforts and achievements.
