A Rainbow Over the Hockey Academy!

The Hockey Academy class was training on Thursday when Ms Taylor captured this beautiful rainbow over Maryborough State High School. A lovely moment to brighten up a busy training session!

In Memoriam:

It is our sad duty to notify our community that Noel Rollings, Esteemed Foundation Principal of Maryborough State High School, has passed away.

Mr Rollings played a pivotal role in shaping the school's identity during its formative years when the boys and girls grammar schools amalgamated in 1974.

Serving as the Foundation Principal from 1974 to 1978, Mr Rollings was not only an administrator but a visionary leader who laid the groundwork for excellence in education. His commitment to fostering an environment of learning and growth earned him the respect and admiration of both students and staff.

In 2021, the community celebrated Mr Rollings ' enduring legacy by inducting him as one of two Emeritus Principals. This honour reflected not only his tenure at the helm but the lasting impact he had on the institution and the countless lives he touched.

Beyond his official roles, Mr Rollings was a beloved figure in Maryborough. Known for his warmth and dedication, he continued to visit the school well into his 90s, demonstrating a genuine affection for the institution and its community. His presence served as a bridge between the past and the present, connecting generations of students and educators.

The community fondly remembers Mr Rollings not just as an administrator but as a mentor, guide, and a symbol of unwavering dedication to education. His commitment to the betterment of Maryborough State High School continued long after his formal retirement, leaving an indelible mark on the institution.

As we mourn the loss of a remarkable educator and community leader, Maryborough State High School stands as a testament to Mr Rollings' enduring legacy, ensuring that his impact on education will be felt for generations to come.

Vietnam Veterans Day Commemoration

This week Maryborough State High School Junior Captains and SRC Vice President Charles Hales represented our students at the Vietnam Veterans Day Commemoration, laying a wreath to honour the bravery, service and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans.

We remember and acknowledge those who served, and recognise the lasting impact of their service. Their courage and dedication continue to inspire future generations.

Indi is heading to Finland!

Congratulations to Indi, whose application for the Rotary Youth Exchange has been accepted! Indi will be heading to Finland in January 2027 for 12 months, where she will experience a new culture, build lifelong connections and embrace an incredible international adventure.

Indi has been proudly sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay Sunrise for her exchange.

We wish Indi all the very best for this exciting journey — we can’t wait to hear all about her Finnish adventure on her return.

Fantastic Football at Hervey Bay!

What a fantastic day of 6-a-side football at United Soccer Club in Hervey Bay. All teams represented Maryborough State High School with fantastic sportsmanship, teamwork and determination throughout the day.

Junior Girls – Two teams, with Team 1 narrowly losing the final in a shoot-out.

Junior Boys – Two teams, with Team 1 making it through to the semi-final.

Senior Girls – Maryborough State High School teams faced each other in the final, finishing in a draw.

Queensland Volleyball Schools Cup
Our Senior Girls Volleyball team produced an outstanding performance at the recent Queensland Volleyball Schools Cup, finishing 5th overall in a highly competitive tournament.
The team narrowly missed out on a top four finish, with just two losses across the entire competition. One match went to a points count-back after a draw, while the other was an incredibly close crossover match, with the final set finishing 27–25. These results highlight just how competitive our team was and how small the margins were between a top four finish and 5th place.
The team showed skill, determination and resilience throughout the tournament. Their ability to compete so closely against top four opposition is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work and commitment they have shown throughout the year.

Maryborough State High School’s Rachael Wallace was chosen to be the flag bearer for Australia at the London international youth science forum.
It's an immersive social and cultural program. She was offered a half scholarship and was 1 of 9 Australian students who attended.
They had lectures from world leading scientists, speech by Nobel price winner John O'Keeffe. She visited Liverpool school of tropical medicine and Oxford Nanopare technologies.
