Hockey Academy Students Shine at State Championships

The first week of the school holidays was a busy one for several of our Hockey Academy students, who represented the Fraser Coast at the Under 16 State Championships, with the girls competing in Rockhampton and the boys in Townsville.

Our girls finished 8th in Division 1, with Claire, Ella and Mackenzie also selected into the 2027 Queensland Under 16 Squad. They will trial in early February, with two teams to be selected to represent Queensland at the Under 16 National Championships in Newcastle in April.

Representing our Hockey Academy girls were Addi, Aria, Mia, Emmi, Claire, Ella, Mackenzie and Gracie, with Mrs Taylor also taking on the role of Team Manager.

Our boys had an outstanding tournament, winning Division 2 and receiving the Team Queensland Award — a fantastic achievement in a championship featuring more than 20 teams.

Representing our Hockey Academy boys were Rueben, Jacob, Logan, Charley, Percy, Brax and Boston.

Congratulations to all our Hockey Academy students on an outstanding week. Your dedication, teamwork and talent continue to showcase the Marvellous talent we have in our Hockey Academy program.

Saddle Up for Leadership.

Our Year 9 Palma Corps participants were recently invited to experience horse riding at Susan River, providing a unique opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills beyond the classroom.

Working with horses teaches discipline, responsibility, consistency and care. Students also learn to communicate effectively and assertively with their equine partners, while building confidence, patience and empathy — all important qualities for developing strong and capable student leaders.

A fantastic experience combining horsemanship with personal growth and leadership development!

Commitment.

While most students looked to the end of their holidays, our rowing crews were on the water early Sunday morning preparing for the upcoming Head of the Brisbane regatta, with their Head Coach and Principal, Mr Done.
