Heath “Hurricane” Lidster scores another win. His opponent was tough and pushed Heath in the first round. Heath then found his range and dominated his opponent in the following two rounds. Plenty of support from club members and the promoter was once again impressed by Heaths ability.
Two weeks of rest will see Heath and the team competing at the Australian Amateur MMA titles.

HEATH “HURRICANE” LISTER IS READY!

Heath is looking on point following a successful weigh-in last night.

In just a few hours, the hands will be wrapped and he’ll be ready to go to war inside the cage!

Heath will have Tyler Cotter in his corner as Tyler successfully transitions from an accomplished MMA fighter into his new role as a coach. Tyler’s experience, knowledge and commitment have been invaluable throughout Heath’s preparation.

Over the past eight weeks, Tyler, our extensive coaching team and the entire MMA fight team have worked together to prepare Heath for tonight.

While Heath will step into the cage alone, he carries the hard work and support of the whole team with him. Whatever happens tonight, getting Heath ready to chase his dream has been a genuine team effort.

We’re proud of you, Heath. Trust your preparation, fight smart and leave it all in the cage!

Let the Hurricane loose!

Forty years... what an incredible milestone, and what an unforgettable night.

To every single person who joined us to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Maryborough Martial Arts Academy – thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Looking around the room and seeing students, instructors, families, friends and supporters from every chapter of our journey was something I'll never forget. Some of you have been with us for decades, some for just a short time, but every one of you has helped shape what our academy is today.

When I started I never imagined the journey that lay ahead. Together we've celebrated countless achievements, overcome challenges, formed lifelong friendships, and watched generations of students grow into confident, respectful and resilient people. That is the true legacy of our academy.

A martial arts club is never built by one person. It is built by the dedication of instructors who freely give their time, parents who support their children week after week, students who walk through the doors with a willingness to learn, and families who become part of something much bigger than themselves.

To everyone who has trained with us over the past 40 years, whether it was for a few months or many years, thank you. You have all left your mark on this academy.

To those who helped organise the evening, decorated the venue, shared stories, took photos, prepared videos, and worked behind the scenes so everyone else could simply enjoy the celebration—your efforts did not go unnoticed. Thank you.

As I watched the memories on the screen and listened to the conversations around the room, I was reminded that martial arts is about far more than punches, kicks, throws or submissions. It's about people. It's about belonging. It's about helping each other become better than we were yesterday.

I feel incredibly privileged to have shared this journey with so many amazing people.

Forty years is a significant achievement, but it's not the finish line. It's simply another chapter in our story.

Here's to everyone who has been part of our past, everyone who is part of our present, and everyone who will help shape our future.

Thank you for believing in our academy, for believing in each other, and for making the last 40 years so incredibly special.

Here's to the next 40 years.
