Term 4 is underway, and every day at school is another opportunity to learn, grow, connect with friends and make progress.

As we head into the final term of 2026, keeping strong weekday routines can make a big difference.

A few simple things can help:
🌙 Keep a regular bedtime
⏰ Have a set morning wake-up time
🎒 Pack bags and organise uniforms the night before
💬 Speak positively about school and the day ahead

🎨🏃 COLOUR FUN RUN IS ALMOST HERE! 🏃🎨

The countdown is on, Sunbury! Our Colour Fun Run is happening in Week 2, and the excitement is building. 🌈💙
A huge thank you to everyone who has already signed up and started fundraising. Every contribution helps support our school, and it’s fantastic to see our community getting behind such a fun event.

💙✨ WELCOME BACK TO TERM 4, SUNBURY! ✨💙
And just like that, we’re back for the final 10 weeks of the 2026 school year!

Term 4 is always a special one. There’s still plenty of learning ahead, but there are also so many moments to celebrate, memories to make and milestones to reach together.

We’ve got a fantastic term coming up, including:
🏊 Swimming for our 5/6W and 6F students
🎨 Our Colour Fun Run
🐨 KOALAS transition sessions for our 2027 Prep families
❤️ Day for Daniel
👵 Grandparents Day
🌟 World Kindness Day
🎤 Sunbury Under the Stars
🎓 Year 6 Graduation
…and plenty more along the way!

📣 Our first parade of Term 4 is this Friday at 8:50am, and families are always welcome to join us.

Our youngest students are preparing to finish another year of growing, learning and discovering just how much they can do.
Our Year 6 students are beginning their final weeks as Sunbury primary students, with some very special milestones still ahead of them.
And across the whole school, we have ten more weeks to learn together, support one another, celebrate successes and make the kind of memories that make Sunbury such a special little school. 💙

💙🌿 THAT’S A WRAP ON TERM 3, SUNBURY! 🌿💙

What a term it has been!

We’ve dressed up, performed, competed, experimented, created, read, problem-solved, represented our school, welcomed visitors, celebrated achievements and watched our students step up in so many different ways.

From Book Week and Eisteddfod celebrations to chess, reading challenges, our Year 6 Science Expo and everything that happened quietly in classrooms every single day, there has been so much to be proud of.

And behind all of it has been our wonderful Sunbury community, our students, staff, families, volunteers and supporters who keep showing up for our school and making it the special place it is. 💙

🌼 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Sunbury State School is closed for the September school holidays.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another busy term of learning, friendship and opportunities.

🔨 WORK CONTINUES OVER THE BREAK
While students are away, maintenance and fencing work will continue around the school grounds.

For everyone’s safety, please remember that the school grounds are closed to the public during the holidays. Please do not enter work areas or school buildings.

HELPING HANDS VACATION CARE
Helping Hands Sunbury will continue operating its Vacation Care program from the Sunbury State School Hall during the holidays.

Their program runs Monday to Friday, 6:30am–6:00pm, with plenty of activities planned for children over the break.

Please note that Helping Hands runs its own supervised Vacation Care program; the rest of the school is closed.

🏛️💙 A SPECIAL VISIT FOR YEAR 6 💙🏛️

Our Year 6 students had a very special visitor yesterday, with Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour joining them for an afternoon of discussion, questions and student voice.

Our School Captains welcomed Mayor Seymour and introduced the English learning Year 6 has been completing around persuasive arguments focused on protecting K’gari.

Students shared their Learning Wall, presented one of their class VLOGs, and then took part in a Question and Answer session with the Mayor. The questions were thoughtful, the discussion was engaging, and our students had the opportunity to hear directly from someone with deep knowledge of our local area.

To finish the visit, Mayor Seymour was given a USB containing the students’ VLOGs so he could continue viewing their work after the session.

We were very proud of the maturity, confidence and passion our Year 6 students showed for an issue connected so closely to our own Fraser Coast community.

A big thank you to Mayor George Seymour for taking the time to visit Sunbury, listen to our students and share his knowledge with them. 💙

🔬✨ SCIENCE EXPO AT SUNBURY! ✨🔬

Today our Year 6 students turned the 5/6 deck into a hands-on Science Expo, sharing their learning with classes from across the school.

Rather than simply displaying their work, our senior students became the teachers, guiding younger students through a range of short modelled activities and demonstrations designed to explain different science ideas in a practical way.

It was a fantastic example of learning in action, with plenty of questioning, experimenting, explaining and problem-solving along the way. The activities also connected Science and Mathematics learning, giving students a great opportunity to apply their STEM thinking in a real and engaging way. 💡

A big thank you to Mrs Yates for helping organise the Expo, and to Mrs Fletcher and Mrs Frohloff for supporting our Year 5/6 students as they prepared and shared their learning.

We were very proud to see our Year 6 students step up, communicate their ideas clearly and help make science fun for others. 💙

A first day at primary school or a move to high school can bring plenty of excitement - and plenty of questions! We’re here to help our families prepare.

🐨 Starting Prep in 2027?
Our free, teacher-directed KOALAS transition program helps children become familiar with “big school” and feel comfortable and prepared for the year ahead.

Join us for our New to Prep Information Afternoon:
📅 Wednesday 16 September
⏰ 3:15–3:45pm
📍 Prep Classroom

Our KOALAS transition sessions will follow on 20 October, 5 November and 12 November, from 10:00–10:50am in the Prep Classroom.

There’s nothing quite like coming together to celebrate our students - and next term, we’re making Friday mornings our time to shine! 🌟

From Term 4, school assemblies will move from weekly Monday afternoons to fortnightly Friday mornings, held in Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.

💙✨ ONE MORE BIG WEEK, SUNBURY! ✨💙

From Book Week costumes to Eisteddfod performances and our students proudly representing Sunbury, Term 3 has given us so much to celebrate. Now we’ve reached Week 10, and there’s still plenty to enjoy before the holidays! 🌟

📣 Monday – Parade at 2:20pm
Join us as we celebrate our students and start our final week together. Families are always welcome — we love having you there!

🍞 Tuesday & Wednesday – Breakfast Club
Toast, milk and a friendly hello to start the morning. A big thank you to the wonderful people who keep our Breakfast Club running and our students smiling. 💙

🔬 Thursday – Year 6 Science Expo
It’s time for our Year 6 students to share their science learning! We’re looking forward to seeing their ideas and hard work on display and celebrating the curiosity behind it all.

👋 Thursday – A special visitor
Year 6 will also welcome Mayor George Seymour for a visit. A busy and exciting day for our senior students!

🍕 Friday – Pizza Day!
A tasty way to finish Term 3! Please return pizza order forms by Thursday 17 September.

There will be no regular tuckshop on Friday, so please pack lunch if your child isn’t ordering pizza.

🌼 School holidays begin next week
Friday 18 September is our final day of term.
