What an exciting week exploring stories through play! More than just dress ups...

We went on a croc hunt! 🐊 The children conquered every obstacle along the way, squelching through mud, wading through grass and swimming across the river and finally... we found some crocodiles! So much fun and excitement exploring this story with our whole bodies.

We also brought Wombat Stew to life, using animals, natural materials and props to tell the story together through imagination and role-play. The children loved becoming the characters and building the "stew" step by step.

Book Week is always one of our favourite weeks, watching the children's imaginations run wild as they step right into their favourite stories!

Eric Carle's 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' isn't just a gorgeous story, it's a doorway into so many rich learning experiences, and you can see the love and creativity our team has put into making it come alive in our room.

From hand-drawn food cards to our little caterpillar friend sitting pride of place on the sensory table, the children have been busy:

🔢 Counting and sequencing the caterpillar's meals
🌈 Naming colours and exploring different foods
🦋 Discovering the life cycle of a butterfly
✂️ Building fine motor skills through drawing and cutting
📖 Retelling the story and predicting what comes next

This is play-based learning at its best, children deeply engaged, curious, and growing without even realising it. 💛

Today we wore red and participated in themed activities and learning experiences to raise awareness of SIDS.

What is Red Nose Day?

Red Nose Day is an annual event in Australia focused on raising funds for child safety and supporting families who have lost a child.
The mission is to stop little lives being cut short and ensure grieving families receive the support they need.

Last Week we engaged in many adventures and fun as we celebrated our love of books and story telling whilst dressing up as characters from our favourite books for Book Week!

The children and staff of Maryborough Central ELC have helped us celebrate National Pyjama Day all week in true cozy style raising funds for the Pyjama Foundation to help out children in Foster Care.

We had a great time joining in lots of fun activities this week including Teddy Bear wagon races, Teddy Bear Picnic, Coach Jordan from Playball Fraser Coast joined us for a Playball session in our PJ’s then we had a special visit from John Barounis MP whom came along in his Pjama’s to join in the fun, the children enjoyed listening to John read the book “I’m going on a bear hunt” before asking him many questions about being a MP. 🧸

Last week we had a special visit from Dental2you .

Sharna and Polly from the Dental2you team were fantastic making the dental experience a positive experience for the children.

Sharna and Polly were so kind and patient with each child as they guided them through each step during the dental check-ups, all whilst teaching the children about oral hygiene, including brushing and healthy food choices.

We had smiling happy smiling faces all round!
