STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Tim & Ingrid Goetze

Tim and Ingrid have been teaching at Riverside Christian College in both the Day Campus and Distance Education for some years now, sharing their love for learning with our students, families and staff alike.

Just recently we heard that they were keen to take part in the Hervey Bay Half Marathon this year and they have been putting in the ‘hard yards’ training in preparation for this big event.

🎉 Last Sunday, their hard work paid off as they crossed the finish line and achieved their goal of completing the half marathon! 🎉

Ingrid said, “This was the first Half Marathon for both of us, and we hope to inspire others to lace up their shoes and give it a go next year!”

Congratulations to you both! Those medallions are very deserving, and they sure look great too - Well done!

This event is for Term 3, but you might like to prepare in advance if you are interested in auditioning. Auditions can be done via video/Teams. (2 - 3 minute performance)

Celebrating Sid’s Incredible Achievement!

We are so proud to share some exciting news from one of our amazing Year 7 Distance Education students! 👏
Sid has achieved an outstanding result at his local Judo competition.

🥇 1st place Gold after winning both of his rounds against competitors from Gin Gin, Bundaberg, and his club Torbanlea.
What a fantastic effort!
This means that Sid has earned the honour of being selected to represent Queensland at the AKJA (Australian Kodokan Judo Association) Nationals in Cairns this September.
Sid said that he is absolutely ‘stoked’ with his achievement—and so are we!
It is wonderful to see his hard work, determination, and perseverance paying off.

At Riverside Distance Education, we love seeing our students pursue their passions and shine in their chosen fields.
Sid, we are cheering you on all the way to Nationals—what an amazing opportunity! 🙌

REFLECTOR OF GOODNESS

Today we continue on with our series on the fruit of the Spirit.
The characteristics of someone who listens to God and hopes to grow in Him.
Not surprisingly, our characteristic this week is linked to kindness from last week but does have it’s own unique parts.

🍒We are looking at Goodness.

🤔What does that mean?
Does it mean being super good at something?
Does it mean that I am like a good boy all the time?
To be honest I am not sure what it means!

⭐I think Jesus in the book of Mark helps nails down what we are talking about. That essentially we are not able to be good, because our humanness entangles us at some point. That God alone is good and like kindness last week we reflect the goodness of God to others.

👉In this context goodness is a verb. It’s not just good thoughts but it has muscle and a pulse that goes into action to help and serve others. It’s not wishy-washy, and sometimes it asks us to help others grow and mature themselves.

🎯How can you use God’s goodness to help others this week?
