What a night! Congratulations to Bill Gunn, the Fraser Coast's Overall Young Achiever of the year sponsored by Downer Group, and to Sam Marshall who was runner up in the personal achievement category at the Maryborough Neighbourhood Centre Youth Achievement awards for 2026. Both of our students spoke highly of our Duke of Edinburgh & leadership programs, and their teachers that gave them a strong foundation to work from.
Congratulations also to all the students from all over the Fraser Coast! We were amazed by the incredible depth of talent of all the students, and their stories were inspiring. Thanks also to our hospitality department for catering dessert! I particularly liked the fudge 😎 Well done Maryborough Neighbourhood Centre, and we're looking forward to seeing the event again next year.

🎬✨ ANIMATION DAY 2026! ✨🎬

What a fantastic day at Aldridge State High School celebrating Animation Day!

It was wonderful to see so many of our students and staff getting into the spirit of the day, with some incredibly creative costumes on display. From individuals and groups to amazing homemade creations, there was certainly no shortage of imagination! 👏

Our Photo Booth captured plenty of memorable moments, while the Cupcake and Bake Stall kept everyone well supplied with delicious treats. 🧁🍪

A huge thank you to our Year 12 students for their efforts in organising and supporting the day, and to our staff and students who dressed up, donated, purchased goodies and helped make the event such a success.

Days like this are a great way to bring our school community together, create some fantastic memories and celebrate our students in their final weeks of Year 12.

Congratulations to our students who have successfully completed the Man Up Program! 🎉

Over the course of the program, students have had the opportunity to develop their confidence, resilience, leadership skills and positive relationships, while taking on challenges and learning valuable life skills.

Our Year 9 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh students have taken their Duke of Ed experience to the next level, embarking on an unforgettable voyage aboard the South Passage as part of the Adventurous Journey requirements of their Award.

For many students, this was an opportunity to step well outside their comfort zone and experience life at sea – learning to sail, navigate, work as a crew and take responsibility for their role on board. ⚓

More importantly, the voyage challenged students to develop resilience, independence, leadership and teamwork while working together to overcome the challenges that come with life on the water.

These are the experiences that make the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award so valuable – providing young people with opportunities to challenge themselves, develop new skills and discover what they are capable of. 💪🌅

Aldridge Music Showcase "Highlights 2026"

From all of us at Aldridge Music, thank you for sharing this very special night with us. Through events like this, you’ve gained so many skills both for now and the future. When we put ourselves on show or "out there".....

We learn to take risks. We learn that sometimes we will fail… and that it’s okay. We learn to experiment. We learn empathy. We learn self-discipline. We learn about teamwork, we truly learn to feel and embrace anxiety... and a connected... "we can do it mentality"

We learn how to communicate. And perhaps, most importantly- We learn how to listen. At Aldridge SHS, all programs, academic, cultural, sporting and creative share a common purpose. We understand that making a good student is important…but equally important “is making a good person"

Thanks for being amazing and authentic ambassadors for our school.

𝗢𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁! 🎙️

(Keep singing) Early September, back on Tuuuesdeee. What a very special night for many… we remember what a night!!

To the Fraser Coast Community,

What an honour it is to see our students, our small school achieve and set such a high standard. I get to lead a department that creates live shows & studio recordings that even the most prestigious schools in Australia struggle to match.

First of all I'd like to thank our supporters & sponsors. These businesses and people believe in us, and always put their hand up to help our school and community. If you are working with or visiting, or buying a coffee from them, please thank them for their support, and let them know how much we appreciate the difference they are making in their community. They probably don't hear the good and the positive enough.

I'd also like to thank the admin here at Aldridge. When you have specialist staff with very high expectations, and you support them, you get what you saw Tuesday night. “Hodgo” has been the driver of this Music Department for 18 years now and looks to showcase our students year in year out. This support has been unwavering with trust, and special thanks to former Principal David Burns who's having a well earned break and a big welcome to acting Principal Sharyn Thomas who is an exciting addition to our school. We look forward to working with you and trust you enjoyed the Aldridge Showcase.

In a time of AI, we're seeing more and more people rejecting content created artificially.

At Aldridge SHS, we have and always will be “Authentic and Real” We are seeing people more and more attending live concerts, going to see bands and learning instruments. There's a reason for this. Humans crave authenticity and connection. We don't just want the art, we want the story behind it, the struggle and the triumph.

I think we can all agree there is nothing more authentic than what we witnessed Tuesday Night. “𝐀𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜” Seeing so many alumni coming back to help, whether it's back stage like Brittni Brady or front and centre like Pat, Abbey, Tara, Scott, Kiah and Emily, just shows that it's not a one show fluke. These former students are happy to invest in our Aldridge community too, to see what we ultimately want to see as teachers. Our students succeeding through effort.

Watching so many of these students work so hard, overcoming stage fright and delivering in front of a massive crowd, I'm so very proud of you all.

There's so many people to thank for Tuesday night and you know I'll forget someone so I'll just say thank you to Evan and the band, you are ALWAYS welcome here at Aldridge. Thank you for your incredible work….and year in year out being a huge inspiration to our young musicians. Thank you Evan Osborne, Dan Khoury, David Watts, Dave Webster, Ken Hodgkinson, Jason Bray and Scott Curtis.

Also thanks to the Brolga crew who we always love to work with; Brendan, Courtney, Janice, Brad and Jono. Special thanks to Primary Schools who RSVPd and enjoyed a free dress rehearsal warm up!

Finally, let's chat about Hodgo. I've seen how many hours you've put into this, and I'll bet that was literally the tip of the iceberg. From creating a safe space to a celebration….It's been an absolute pleasure watching you work with everyone over the last few months, weeks and days. From your vision, the hundreds of hours of planning and even making some silly videos. Quite simply, this cannot happen without you. You walk into Hodgo’s room daily and feel inspired, as he’s always challenging students to be “good students and even better people”. Thank you for your hard work. Thank you for creating a space for students to achieve great success. Thank you for all the work you have done for all of these students.

𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙜𝙚

Thank you to staff, students and families for a warm welcome to your school this week. Having been a member of the Aldridge State High School teaching staff many years ago, it is with great pride and joy for me to be welcomed back into the school community as Principal for term 4. It was a wonderful week to return, with amazing events such as the Farm to Fork and Music Night to enjoy - there are so many opportunities at the school for all students to experience success. As a committed state school educator it is a privilege to again be part of a school that values quality learning experiences for students.

I look forward to meeting as many people as possible and working with the Aldridge State High School community for the remainder of the year.
