Yesterday, our Year 12 ATAR Chemistry students ventured beyond the classroom to the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research's BioDiscovery Centre for an immersive Protein Chemistry workshop. Students explored the structure and function of proteins, investigated antibiotic-resistant proteins in the laboratory, and experienced how researchers use techniques such as protein electrophoresis and protein modelling to develop new treatments for disease. They also analysed real scientific data using the Protein Data Bank, gaining valuable insight into the vital role chemistry plays in modern medical research.

It was fantastic opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with real-world science and to experience firsthand the innovative research taking place right here in Western Australia.

What an incredible weekend for our LUMENosity Specialist Dance Teams at the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF) WA State Championships!

Our dancers took to the competition floor with energy, confidence and determination, achieving some fantastic results:
Ultra Violet Jazz – 4th Place
Ultra Violet Pom – 3rd Place 🥉
Firestorm Hip Hop – 1st Place 🥇

A special congratulations to our Firestorm Hip Hop Team, who were also crowned Scholastic Grand Champions, achieving the highest-scoring routine out of 31 scholastic teams.

We are incredibly proud of all our dancers and the dedication they have shown throughout the year. From the very first rehearsal to taking the competition floor, their hard work has certainly paid off!

A huge thank you to our choreographers, Miss Samantha Farley (Ultra Violet Jazz & Pom) and Denzel Mahusay (Firestorm Hip Hop), for their commitment to our dancers and for continually challenging them to grow and achieve their best.

What a fantastic day for our 26 enthusiastic students who proudly represented Lumen Christi College at the ACC ISP Cricket Carnival earlier this month.

Across two teams our students gave it their all, developing new skills, making new friends and showing fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day.

With glorious weather, plenty of cricket and lots of smiles, the Lumen Christi spirit was shining brightly both on and off the field.

On Tuesday, our Radiance Liturgical Dance Team took to the stage at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, competing in the Christian Dance section at the beautiful Chapel of St Brigid at Mercy College.

This year’s Liturgical Dance piece is inspired by Campbell House patron, Alec Campbell, whose courage and resilience have come to represent the enduring ANZAC spirit. Through this piece, our dancers explore the journey of rising above adversity through faith reminding us that true strength is not found in facing life’s challenges alone, but in placing our hope in the Lord and supporting one another with courage, compassion and unity.

The dancers delivered a moving and powerful performance, with the adjudicator recognising their thoughtful interpretation and beautiful ex*****on of the piece. We are incredibly proud of the way they performed with such grace, expression and purpose.

This week is English Week at Lumen Christi College. To kick off the week, we held our annual whole-school dress up parade, with students and staff encouraged to come along dressed as their favourite book or film character. The costumes were fantastic and it was a wonderful celebration of literature and film.

It was Lumen Day on Tuesday, and what an incredible day it was! 🌟

With glorious sunshine, a buzzing campus, and an amazing community spirit, the day was one to remember.

A huge thank you to our incredible students, staff, and parents for making this year's celebration such a memorable one.

Every fortnight, students have the opportunity to volunteer in our Vinnies Community Kitchen, preparing meals to support those in need within our community.

This week, our dedicated student volunteers cooked delicious apple sponge pudding, cinnamon bread and butter pudding, chocolate crackle cookies, chocolate brownies and apple crumble muffins, sharing their time, skills and kindness with others. We hope their efforts brought comfort and joy to those who received these meals.

We are incredibly proud of our students for demonstrating compassion, generosity and a commitment to making a positive difference.

Our Year 12 Outdoor Education students headed to the Canning River last week for a canoeing excursion.

The experience helped build their confidence and develop their paddling skills as they prepare for their upcoming 4 day canoeing expedition along the Blackwood River in Margaret River during Week 6.
