National Science Week 2026
It’s little eyes glued to an experiment, tiny hands eager to explore, and questions that often come more than answers. It is the countless “Wow!” and “Ahhh!”, the surprised faces, the excited conversations, and the joy of discovering something new.
Because science begins with a simple question: “I wonder what will happen?”
And from that wondering, children learn to observe, predict, investigate, explore and think deeply about the world around them.

A Visit from Preventative Dental Oasis
Early learning matters because the experiences children have in their early years help shape the foundations for lifelong learning, health and wellbeing.
This week, our children had the wonderful opportunity to welcome the Dental Team from Preventative Dental Oasis to SmartPlay! The children learned about looking after their teeth, making healthy food choices, practising good oral hygiene and what to expect when visiting the dentist. Some children also were able to have their teeth checked by Dr. Peter.
Young children learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences. A dental visit is not just learning about teeth, but an opportunity to build confidence, ask questions, develop healthy habits and make connections between what we learn and our everyday lives.
Early Learning Matters Week reminds us that every learning opportunity counts; yes, even caring for our teeth!

Early Learning Matters Week
Early childhood encompasses the most critical and formative years of a child’s life. During these early years, children are building the foundations for how they learn, communicate, form relationships, manage emotions and understand the world around them.
At SmartPlay, we know that play is not “just play”. Through play, children explore, experiment, imagine, problem-solve and make sense of their world.
This Early Learning Matters Week, we celebrate our children, our dedicated educators and the families who partner with us to give every child the best possible start.

The Harvest Room Flower Shop
What started as an exploration of the life cycles of animals soon blossomed into a fascination with the life cycle of plants!
Through hands-on learning, the children investigated seeds, discovered the different parts of a plant, and learned how flowers grow and flourish.
Inspired by this learning, the children transformed their dramatic play area into their very own Flower Shop! They worked together to create beautiful flowers and bouquets, designed decorations, and helped set up the space using some resources they made themselves.
This beautiful learning environment reflects the children's interests, creativity, and growing understanding of the natural world. We love seeing them take ownership of their learning as they imagine, create, and play together.

Environment as the Third Teacher
Our learning environment at SmartPlay is thoughtfully planned to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and support each child's growth. Through intentional play-based experiences, we integrate key learning areas including literacy, numeracy, science, creativity, problem-solving, fine motor development, and social-emotional learning into the spaces children engage with every day.
See how our environments invite children to wonder, discover, create, and learn, all through the joy of play.

JC Ingenium Magnetic Tiles Workshop
Our children explored the fascinating world of shapes, learning about the different types of triangles and discovering the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. They then put their learning into action, using their creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork to design and build incredible creations.
It is so amazing to see what little hands and creative minds can achieve when given the opportunity to explore, imagine, and create.
Thank you, JC Ingenium, for inspiring a love of STEM through such an engaging and interactive experience!
