Congratulations to our own Ayo who co-hosted the Metropolitan North Principal's Conference this week with hundreds of Principals from the region in attendance. In the words of the event organiser "It was a joy listening to your opinions, seeing how you turned those opinions into poignant reflections for the audience and the way you held the room as MCs." He certainly once again did our school great service. We are very proud of him.

OZ TAG FOR NAIDOC WEEK | Last week, the Muruduwin Team faced off against the Rotating School Team in a spirited game of Oz Tag, winning 2-1!

It was fantastic to see so many students get involved, with plenty of action, teamwork, and laughter as we celebrated NAIDOC Week.

Thank you to everyone who played and supported both teams on the oval—your energy made the event truly memorable!

We’re proud of our Muruduwin players and all those who participated. What a great way to celebrate NAIDOC Week together!

NAIDOC ASSEMBLY 2026 | We were honoured to celebrate NAIDOC Week with a meaningful assembly featuring inspiring speeches from Finley, Bree, Amelia, Zoe, Kobi, and Ella. They shared heartfelt reflections about their families and the people important to them, reminding us all of the strength of community and culture. We were also grateful to have some of our Muruduwin families join us for the assembly, adding to the sense of connection and celebration.

For the first time, we proudly presented our new Acknowledgement of Country. A huge thank you to Skye Andrews for her dedication and support in working alongside the students to craft this meaningful acknowledgement.

Skye and Finley then presented the school with a beautifully made message stick, symbolising unity and respect—a treasured addition to our community.

Thank you to all our students and families for sharing their voices and stories, making this NAIDOC assembly a truly special celebration of culture and connection.

MID-YEAR EXCELLENCE ASSEMBLIES | It was truly inspiring to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students during the first half of the year. Nearly 400 students were recognised for their dedication, excellence, and academic progress—congratulations to each and every one of you! We are incredibly proud of your hard work and commitment.

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents, carers, and loved ones who joined us to support and cheer on our students. We are fortunate to be part of such a caring and supportive community.

We also want to acknowledge the genuine gratitude shown by every student as they received their awards—a simple thank you or a warm smile spoke volumes. Together, we are nurturing remarkable young people who make us all proud.

ASHIMA HIGH VISIT WRAPUP | What an amazing week! Our students and the Japanese students had a fun-filled week sharing our school and our cultures. Miss Scott taught them how to play Oztag, on Wednesday the Japanese students taught our students how to play a traditional card game called Karuta and we also did some origami together. On Thursday the Japanese students tried some Aussie food! Some even enjoyed Vegemite! Finally on Friday we had our Farewell Ceremony prepared by Mrs Foster and the TAS Support Staff. The students had an amazing time and we look forward to hosting Ashima High School students next year!

RISE AWARDS | Our students are the best! We are just a little over half way through the year and 39,814 RISE Awards have been given to students this year so far. An average of over 35 RISE awards per student. That is absolutely amazing and a tribute to the hard work of all our students and the recognition their teachers give them. Congratulations to all students, we are so proud of you.

SUBJECT SELECTION AFTERNOON FOR 2027 | It was fantastic to see so many of our parents and students turn out yesterday afternoon to support subject selections for Year 8 students courses for Years 9 and 10 and Year 10 students courses for Years 11 & 12.

We have a broad range of courses on offer to meet the needs of every student.

A huge thank you to our incredible teachers who stayed behind to give great advice to our students and their families. It was also fantastic to have many of our dedicated students there who could give good advice to others on their experiences in the courses.

We are very excited about the opportunities that lay ahead as we set the groundwork for outstanding results, most particularly for our first HSC in 2028.
