This may look like children simply drawing under a table, but it's so much more.
Upside-down drawing offers a range of developmental benefits and reflects our play-based and inquiry-based approach to learning.
As children reach upwards to create, they strengthen their shoulder, arm, wrist, and hand muscles, building the stability needed for writing and everyday tasks. Drawing from a different position also develops core strength, body awareness, hand-eye coordination, and pencil control, supporting important pre-writing skills.
By transforming an everyday space into an art studio, children are encouraged to think creatively, use their imagination, and experiment with new ways of creating. The experience sparks curiosity and problem-solving as children test ideas, ask questions, and discover how their bodies move and work in different ways.
Most importantly, children have the agency to choose how they position themselves, what they create, and how they engage with the experience, fostering confidence, independence, and ownership of their learning.
