Baby goat flank and pearl barley soup
The perfect meal to warm your belly and body on a cold winter evening.
Collagen rich cuts like flank, shank or shoulder are just the right thing for low and slow cooked stews like this. The collagen just melts into the meal over time and gives it this full body flavor, silky texture and that stickiness that sticks your lips together when you eat it!

Rack of feral goat back strap
After quite a few beginner hunter sessions this season the freezer is brimming with nice cuts of meat. Every now and then I take the time to prepare a rack of back strap to cook for the family as a special treat.
This rack was cooked in copious amounts of butter and a sprig of rosemary.
If you would like to learn how to hunt or how to break down an animal to prepare a special meal for your family then please get in touch

Knife sharpening practice
I am giving a knife sharpening demonstration at next week’s Seven Valleys Wild Food Festival.
The ‘lineup’ so to speak is rather intimidating for me since literally all of the other presenters there are absolute legends in the wild food community. Some of them are my idols and mentors…
Make sure to swing by for the various different talks, presentations and Q and A
I am very much looking forward to meeting and to shake ‘s hand

‘Sida The Road Crumble’
This time of year you don’t want to be driving behind me on a rural road. I will be going slowly and might stop abruptly to forage for roadside fruit😂.
On a recent family hunting trip we got very lucky with a good amount of apples, white peaches, yellow peaches and nectarines.
We tend to eat the best pieces of fruit in our lunches and the ones that are a bit blemished just go into a pie or crumble.
For the peach crumble here, even the pie dish was found on the side of the road.

Facebook Jail!
Allegedly my work as the Wildfoodmeister is in breach of Facebook’s stringent community guidelines 😂!
I feel strangely honored to be a facebook criminal now!
The very fact that this keeps happening to me and others in the outdoors community, the fact that I get direct messages as well as WhatsApp messages with threats and other harassment shows that ‘the other people’ who are not interested in my kind of work and content are the true criminals!!!
I have never been aggressive or rude to anyone in this space. I n fact, I foster a very polite, positive, inclusive and courteous environment in the pages that I run and occasionally even get commended for it.
Facebook and all the anti Wildfoodmeister people should have a good hard look in the mirror!!!!

In beekeeping nothing is as thrilling and rewarding as catching a big swarm of bees.
After a challenging season of loosing many hives and harvesting no honey last year, I managed to catch quite a few swarms this season.
This one here is my biggest one yet and the most memorable one.
