What a fantastic day of rural fun our students had at the Hamilton Sheepvention! 🐑🌾

It was extra special to visit an event that so many of our students’ parents remember as a favourite from their own childhoods—sharing a true slice of local farming life across generations.

From impressive machinery displays and up-close encounters with animals, to hands-on experiences like trying their hand at shearing, the day was full of learning, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Fantastic woodcraft and petting Zoos a highlight.
Our friendly rural community spirit was high, and those unmistakable country smells, it was a day to remember!

A wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with our rich agricultural heritage and experience the heart of our local community. 💛

Cooking & Gardening 🌱🍳
Our junior students had a wonderful time whipping up delicious warm mini quiches, using fresh eggs from our very own school chooks! 🐔🥚
Meanwhile, our senior students were busy preparing and planting the winter garden, getting their hands dirty and setting us up for a season of growth and learning. 🌿
A fantastic day of teamwork, hands-on learning, and connecting with where our food comes from!

A Memorable Start to the Term! 🌿
In the first week of term, we were incredibly lucky to head off on a whole school camp alongside Willaura Primary School at Cave Hill Creek, Raglan.
This was a special milestone, as it was the first time students of all ages experienced camp together – creating connections, building confidence, and making lifelong memories. 💙
Thanks to our Mental Health funding, this opportunity became a reality. Throughout the camp, students challenged themselves, pushed through fears, and embraced the thrill of new adventures with courage and excitement.
We are so proud of every student for giving things a go, supporting one another, and truly making the most of this experience. What a fantastic way to start the term! 🌟

Inter School Aths Sports
Everyone had a terrific day out at the district Athletics Sports at Lake Bolac on Thursday. The competition was fierce but friendly, with some great displays of sporting prowess, and sporting behaviour.
A large contingent of Maroona parents were in attendance, with every family represented. Thanks to plenty of pracise in preparation for the sports, we placed 2nd overall. All of our children did a wonderful job, and Vivian (9yo girls) and Billy (12/13yo boys) were age group champions.
Thanks to Lake Bolac for hosting the day, Willaura PS and Ararat North PS for providing the competition, and all of the children, parents, and volunteer helpers for making it such a memorable day.

𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆
The Maroona Primary School students and staff recently visited our friends at Buangor PS for a Cluster Day. All 5 Ararat Rural Cluster schools were there, including Maroona, Buangor, Willaura, Pomonal, and Moyston, which equates to around 100 exctied kids and staff.
The main event for the day was a visit from the Ecolink Science Centre to explore the use of Sphero Bots, but we also ran our Cluster Cross Country, and made a Mothers' Day gift for Mum as well.
Thanks to Buangor Primary School for hosting our Cluster Day. These shared days are so valuable for the staff and students of our small schools, as they allow us to build professional and social networks with others.

Our annual ANZAC Day ceremony took place today, a day early, and coincided with our weekly Friday visit with Willaura Primary School. The children delivered thoughtful presentations on the roles animals have played in war, speaking with impressive clarity and passion. They also took great pride in crafting and laying their own wreaths. It was a fantastic day, with the school full of happy children and rich with meaningful ANZAC Day learning.
