📚🖤💛❤️ Indigenous Literacy Day

Today we acknowledge Indigenous Literacy Day and raise awareness about the importance of literacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in remote communities across Australia. Today highlights the role that access to books, education, storytelling, language and culture plays in creating opportunities and strengthening communities.

Indigenous Literacy Day is also a celebration of the rich cultures, languages and stories of First Nations peoples. It recognises that literacy extends beyond reading and writing, encompassing the sharing of knowledge, traditions and cultural identity from one generation to the next.

This year's theme,"Country Is Our Teacher," acknowledges the important lessons that Country, culture, Elders, family and community provide, reminding us that learning happens in many ways and places.

At Look Now Training, we believe that education and lifelong learning create pathways to greater opportunities, stronger connections and more inclusive communities. Today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to learn about Indigenous Literacy Day, listen to First Nations voices, and celebrate the stories and languages that continue to shape Australia's cultural identity.

This NAIDOC Week, we proudly celebrate 50 Years of Deadly. A milestone that recognises five decades of honouring the cultures, histories, achievements and enduring contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The 2026 theme, "50 Years of Deadly," celebrates the strength, resilience, leadership and unwavering spirit of First Nations peoples, while acknowledging the Elders, communities, artists, advocates and trailblazers who have helped shape the journey of NAIDOC Week over the past 50 years. It is also a reminder that these stories, cultures and voices continue to inspire future generations.

At Look Now Training, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise the importance of listening, learning and walking together in the spirit of respect and reconciliation.
