# Khatam (completion) of Qura’an #

InshahAllah Wednesday Night 18/3/26 will be Khatam (completion) of Qura'an for the Holy month of Ramadan at the Masjid - 14 Church St, Maroochydore 7:45pm.

It has been narrated in authentic narrations that Anas ibn Malik (RA - companion), Mujahid and Abda ibn aby Lubabah (students of companions) used to invite family/friends when they finished one complete reading of the Qura’an (Khatam).

We encourage community members to attend Khatam of Qura’an in Taraweeh prayer. It may well be Lailatul Qadr and it used to be said that Dua’a is accepted and that mercy comes down upon completion of reading of the Qura’an.

InshahAllah we will be having a community Iftar this *SATURDAY 7/3/26* at the Masjid. Please come along with your family and friends to join IFTAR with your fellow Muslim brothers and sisters.

The food will be cooked and delivered from Thali Dhaba restaurant (to support our local brother) which includes:

We thank Allah (SWT) for giving us the ability to fast in the Month of Ramadan, the ability to worship him, and the ability to fulfil our religious and worldly obligations.

The Australian Fatwa Council is pleased to announce to the Australian Muslim community the following:

The Australian Fatwa Council has confirmed, after further inquiries with both local and global observatories, that in Sydney, the new moon of Shawwal will be born on Saturday, 29th March 2025, at 9:57 PM AEST—after sunset on that night. In Perth, the new moon will be born on the same day at 6:57 PM AWST, also after sunset. As the new moon will be born after sunset in both cities, the following day cannot be the first of the Month of Shawwal.

The method by which the Grand M***i of Australia and the Australian Fatwa Council determined the end of the month of Ramadan, the first day of Shawwal, and the day of Eid Al-Fitr is based on the calculated birth of the moon before sunset, the duration of the moonset after sunset, and the possibility of sighting the moon. This is a method that has been adopted by many prominent and reputable global scholarly councils.

The Australian National Imams Council and the Australian Fatwa Council acknowledge, understand and respect the Imams and scholars who may hold a different opinion, and request all Muslims to respect the different opinions on this matter and work towards the unity of the Muslim community in preserving the common values and interests that they all have and share.

The Grand M***i of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad, and the member Imams of the Australian National Imams Council, wish the Muslim community a happy, joyful and blessed Eid Al-Fitr, and to remember their brothers and sisters in Gaza – Palestine in their Dua’a, generous donations, and ongoing support.

We also encourage the Muslim community to engage with their fellow Australian neighbours and friends in displaying the true and peaceful image of Islam.

InshahAllah the Holy Month of Ramadan for this year 1446H- 2025 will commence on *Saturday, 1st of March 2025*

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐧 𝟏𝟒𝟒𝟔𝐇 – 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

Following extensive consultations with the Imams from the Australian Fatwa Council, the Grand M***i of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad wishes to make the following statement regarding the Holy Month of Ramadan 1446H - 2025 for all the Australian states and territories:

Firstly, in Sydney, the sun will set on Friday, 28th February, at 7:32 PM (AEST), while the new moon for the Month of Ramadan will set at 7:44 PM on the same night. This means the new moon will be visible for 12 minutes after sunset before disappearing from the horizon.

In Perth, the sun will set on Friday, 28th February, at 6:52 PM (AWST), while the new moon for the Month of Ramadan will set at 7:08 PM. This means the new moon will be visible for 16 minutes after sunset before disappearing from the horizon.

This allows sufficient time to sight the new moon for the Month of Ramadan 1446H. Therefore:

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟏𝟒𝟒𝟔𝐇- 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

The first night of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Taraweeh Prayer will be on Friday, 28th February 2025 after Sunset (After Isha)

Secondly: The method by which the Grand M***i of Australia and the Australian Fatwa Council had determined the commencement of the month of Ramadan is based on the calculated birth of the moon before sunset, the duration of the moonset after sunset and the possibility of sighting the moon. This is a method that many prominent and reputable global scholars, councils and Muslim countries have adopted.

The Australian National Imams Council and the Australian Fatwa Council acknowledge, understand and respect the Imams and scholars who may hold different opinions, and request all Muslims to respect the different opinions on this matter and work towards the unity of the Muslim community in preserving the common values and interests that they all have and share.

Finally: The Grand M***i of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad and the Australian National Imams Council call upon all Muslims to preserve their fasting whilst supplicating to Allah to protect our countries, spread peace, blessings and security around the world, and alleviate the suffering and hardships of all people and Muslims are facing, in particular our brothers and sisters in Gaza – Palestine.
