QLD Chito-Ryu Karate Training Camp is done for another year!
This was our biggest camp ever, with attendees traveling from the Sunshine Coast Karate, Coastal Karate Club, BrisKarate, Gold Coast Chito-Ryu Karate, The Karate Institute Peakhurst, Chito Ryu Karate Blue Mountains.
More than just a milestone in numbers, it was a historic moment for our association: the first time ever that all Australian senior instructors (Shihan and above) were at the QLD camp all at once.
Our instructors, both senior and junior, were incredibly active over the weekend. A massive thank you to Noonan Kyoshi, who was exceptionally generous with his time and knowledge. The Shihan-kai group was incredibly fortunate to have a few dedicated sessions with him, where he truly expanded our minds (as he so often does).
Thank you to everyone who contributed throughout the weekend, and especially to the students from all dojos who brought the energy and made it such a fantastic experience for everyone.
A big shoutout to Adam Sensei for capturing at least one of the sessions on camera! With so much teaching and learning going on, taking photos was the last thing on most of our minds, so we are grateful you caught these moments.
Coming away from a weekend like this, it’s vital to step back, reflect on what we’ve learned, and integrate it into our daily training so we are ready for the next level.
We already look forward to the next opportunity to come together again.

DOJO CLOSED THIS WEEKEND (Fri 22 & Sat 23 May) 🥋
Quick reminder that the dojo will be closed this Friday, 22nd and Saturday, 23rd May.
If you normally train on either of these days, please make sure to book a makeup class on another day so you don't miss out on your training!
Why are we closed? 🤔
Our instructors and a huge group of our members are heading off to the 2026 QLD Chito-Ryu Karate Training Camp!
We are incredibly excited because this is officially our biggest camp ever. Plus, for the very first time, every single senior instructor from across Australia will be attending! It’s going to be an unforgettable weekend of training.

As we head into the final few months of preparation for the Soke Cup, everyone should be treating this as a practice run: competitors, referees, coaches, officials, supporters.
We look forward to seeing you at the tournament.
Please note: For this tournament we are testing a completely new tournament management system including live scoreboards. This system has been designed from the ground up to be used for the 2026 Soke Cup on the Gold Coast in August. As this is a completely new system, we would really appreciate your feedback, particularly if you run into any problems during registration.

Watching a Champion Grow: Farewell Taiyo!
We would like to share a special send-off for Taiyo, who recently wrapped up his final class with us. Since joining our Little Champions program back in 2022, we’ve had the absolute privilege of watching Taiyo grow—not just in his karate skills, but in confidence, focus, and spirit.
It’s always hard to say goodbye to a student who has become such a familiar face in the dojo, but we’re really proud of how much he’s achieved since his very first lesson.
Taiyo, thank you for bringing your contagious energy and curiosity to Sunshine Coast Karate. We will miss you and your family! Please remember that you always have a home here.
Taiyo, you’re a talented young man with so much potential. Whatever you decide to do next, give it everything you've got!
All the best with your next adventures!!!

Levelling Up in Every Way...
Meet the Man Behind the Belt (and the Scissors!)
Just over one year ago, Clay stepped into the dojo for the first time. Today, we are proud to celebrate his 12 months of dedication at Sunshine Coast Karate, marked by a well-deserved promotion to 11th Kyu (Orange-White stripe)!
But Clay’s growth hasn’t been limited to the dojo. That same discipline and passion have been poured into a lifelong dream: the opening of Haus of Clay Hair Studio.
Whether he’s training with the team at SCK or styling at the Haus of Clay Hair Studio, Clay brings 100% heart and an energy to everything he does.
Way to go Clay!!!
