Every day at school matters!

Regular attendance helps students learn, build friendships, develop new skills and feel connected to their school community. 💚💛

Even a few minutes of lateness each day can quickly add up to days of missed learning across the year.

Every minute counts. Every day matters.

National Science Week: Seeds of Science! 🌿✨

Marks Point young scientists have been busy this week. Students celebrated National Science Week by stepping into the role of young botanists! They explored our bush tucker garden and Findon Garden, discovering the amazing variety of plants and seeds growing within our school grounds.

Students loved using their magnifying glasses to investigate seeds in our gardens. They brought a large collection back to the science lab to further investigate. Using our DeadlyScience microscope, students were able to investigate the incredible shapes, colours, textures and structures hidden within each tiny seed.

Students explored the life cycles of native plants, including basket grass, grass trees and Lilly Pillies. 🔍🔬🌱☘️🌿🌱

Students recorded data about their discoveries, researched the seeds to identify the different species growing around our school and considered how these plants support local ecosystems and connect us to Country.

Students began their own seedling projects, planting seeds and preparing to observe and record their growth over time. 💚✨☀️

To bring their learning together, our students began designing a Seed Library for Marks Point Public School; an exciting project that will allow our school community to collect, store, share and grow seeds for years to come! 🌿🍃🌱

What a fantastic week of curiosity, discovery and hands-on learning! ✨

What a fantastic way to finish our debating season! 🎤👏

In the final round of the Premier’s Debating Challenge, Marks Point Gold took on Marks Point Green in an incredibly close and impressive debate.

The feedback from our adjudicator was hugely positive, with the students’ arguments described as being of a standard you might expect from Year 8 or 9 high school students. They also commented that our students are very well placed to become strong and capable debaters as they move into high school.

We are incredibly proud of how far both teams have come throughout their debating journey. Their confidence, quick thinking and ability to construct and defend strong arguments have grown enormously.

Congratulations to all of our debaters on an outstanding season - you have represented Marks Point Public School beautifully! 🌟
