After nearly three decades on the Westminster sidelines, legendary basketball coach Al Green has called time on an extraordinary chapter.

Joining Westminster in 1999, Al has coached and mentored hundreds of students, helping to build one of South Australia's leading basketball programs. But his greatest contribution reaches far beyond the scoreboard; it can be seen in the generations of young people shaped by his belief in resilience, discipline, teamwork and character.

Westminster is proud to announce the commemoration of Al's legacy, which will now live on through the newly established Al Green Medal, awarded each year to the best player on the court in the Senior A Intercol Basketball match. This year, we congratulate the inaugural recipient, Brooklyn Arnold.

From an Australian representative and Adelaide 36ers star to a beloved Westminster coach, mentor and icon, we thank Al for 27 mean, green and remarkable years 🐉🏀

Fresh off their Division 1 title win last Saturday, the Mid A boys continued their brilliant season with a commanding victory over Pembroke.

The Mid C team saved one of their best performances for Intercol, overcoming a five-point deficit at three-quarter time to record a crucial win. The Mid B and D teams fought hard, as they have done all season, but were unable to get over the line despite strong performances.

Westminster Boys Football teams across Year 8, Year 9, Year 10 and the Second XVIII completed a clean sweep at Intercol, with all four teams recording impressive victories.

The Year 8 team fought hard and produced one of their best performances of the season, while the Year 9, Year 10 and Second XVIII teams all recorded comprehensive wins. Together, the results highlighted the depth and strength of Westminster Football and continued our outstanding record of success in Boys Football at Intercol.

Our two Senior Girls Soccer teams, Premier League and Open B, played some outstanding soccer throughout their Intercol fixtures; however, Pembroke ultimately proved too strong.

The Premier League team fought hard in challenging pitch conditions and showed tremendous resilience throughout, never giving in despite eventually going down 0–2.

In one of the most dominant displays of Intercol, our Boys First XVIII produced a commanding performance to record a 12-goal victory in the final game of the week.

With the overall Intercol Cup hanging in the balance, the team rose to the occasion to secure the win that ultimately decided the Cup in favour of Westminster.

The memorable victory was capped off by an incredible show of School spirit, with a huge contingent of Westminster students running onto the field at the final siren to celebrate with the team and bring a truly memorable Intercol week to a fitting conclusion.

In what was a fiercely contested game, the Mid Girls team turned around an earlier season defeat to Pembroke to claim a memorable 12-point Intercol victory.

The contest was much tighter than the two-goal margin suggested, with the game still on the line at three quarter time. With everything to play for, the team found the extra level of determination that Intercol can bring, finishing strong to secure an important win for Westminster.

Westminster's dominance in Netball continued throughout Intercol, with both the Senior and Prep School teams winning nearly all their games.

A particular highlight was the strength of our Prep teams and the exciting talent coming through the program, complementing the sustained excellence of our State Champion Premier League team.

Boys Senior A Basketball continued their dominant season with a comprehensive Intercol victory over Pembroke.

In what became a lopsided contest, the Senior A team rose to the occasion to fittingly celebrate legendary Westminster Basketball Coach Al Green in his final game after an incredible 27 years coaching Basketball at Westminster.

The Senior B and C teams were equally impressive, recording comprehensive victories to complete a clean sweep for our Senior Boys Basketball teams.

Westminster Girls Senior Football teams saved some of their best football of the season for Intercol. The Senior B team prevailed in a nailbiter, producing their best performance of the season to secure a memorable one-point victory.

As has been the case all season, our First XVI fought hard throughout their contest but ultimately went down to a strong Pembroke team. Despite the result, the team showed tremendous resilience and continued to compete right to the final siren.

In what proved to be one of the pivotal contests in deciding the overall Intercol winner, our Prep School Soccer teams stepped up when it mattered most.

Across the four boys and girls fixtures, Westminster recorded three wins to secure the Soccer section of Intercol and two crucial points towards the overall trophy. It was an outstanding contribution from our youngest Soccer teams on the biggest stage.

Well done to our Preparatory Soccer players! ⚽🐉
