🪢 KNOTS with YEAR 1/2 📿

Last Term our Year 1/2 students had the wonderful opportunity to work with Mr Verne, learning a variety of rope skills and knot tying techniques. They explored different types of knots and practised ways to pack away ropes safely and carefully.
-
We are looking forward to putting these new skills into practice during our Outdoor Learning sessions at Dru Point.
-
As we learnt these practical skills, we were reminded that God equips us with new abilities and wisdom to care for His creation and serve others. Just as a well-tied knot provides strength and security, we can place our trust in God, knowing that He is our strong foundation in all we do.
-
‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.’ – Colossians 3:23
-
We are so grateful to Mr Verne for sharing his knowledge and helping us grow in our skills, teamwork and confidence.

📚💤 RIBIT Day was a HUGE success! 🧸✨

On Thursday, our students from Kinder to Year 6 enjoyed RIBIT Day – Reading in Bed Is Terrific!
-
Everyone came to school dressed in their comfiest pyjamas, and our cuddly teddy bears joined in the fun too, proving they love a good book just as much as we do! 🐻📖
-
Classes came together to share a special library session, where Mrs Heit treated us to a wonderful story. Students also enjoyed watching an online story before settling in with a friend, a teddy, and a favourite book for some peaceful reading time.
-
It was a fantastic day filled with stories, smiles, cosy vibes, and a love of reading—the perfect way to celebrate the end of the school term. 📚❤️
-
Have a safe, happy, and well-deserved holiday break, everyone! 🌟

🏮 LANTERN WALK ✨

Our school community came together for our annual Lantern Walk, enjoying a wonderful crisp evening of fellowship, laughter, and light.
-
As families walked together with their handmade lanterns, the event provided a special opportunity to connect, celebrate, and enjoy the warmth of our school community.
-
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's Lantern Walk such a memorable occasion, in particular our Community Engagement Committee. We are grateful for a school community that continues to shine God's light through friendship, service, and togetherness. 💛

🥼 Marble Runs in Year 1-2 🫸🏽

Our Year 1/2 students became designers, engineers and scientists as they created their very own marble runs! Following the Design Process, students planned, created, built, tested and evaluated their designs, making improvements along the way. They experimented with a variety of materials and discovered how different shapes and surfaces affected the movement of the marble.
-
Our students investigated forces, explored how gravity pulls objects towards the ground and how pushes, pulls and ramps change the speed and direction of the marble. It was wonderful to see students asking questions, solving problems and working together to create exciting designs. Most importantly, we celebrated that we are creative because God is our Creator. Just as God designed a world full of order, beauty and purpose, He has given us minds to imagine, create and discover.
-
‘For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.’ – Ephesians 2:10
-
We loved seeing our young learners think deeply, persevere through challenges and joyfully use the gifts God has given them.

🤝 NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK 👏🏼

National Reconciliation Week ended with an amazing experience for Year 5/6 Lynch and the rest of the school.
-
Mr and Mrs Groves ran a Traditional Foods and Cultural Practises Day with our class. We cooked and ate mutton birds, made and decorated spears, painted stories of Tasmania's native animals, twined, researched and much more!
-
Year 5/6 Lynch then hosted a Food and Culture expo for the whole school, demonstrating traditional practises, sharing stories and teaching the school about important Tasmanian Aboriginals like F***y Cochrane Smith. We learned so much and the students were proud to share their learning with the rest of the school.
-
Well done Year 5/6 Lynch on your hard work and thank you to Mr and Mrs Groves! 🙏🏼

🪢 YEAR 1/2 SCIENCE 🫸🏽

This term, our Year 1 and 2 classes have had a wonderful time at Dru Point exploring forces in Science as they investigated push and pull in God’s amazing creation.
-
Using ropes, crates and containers, the students experimented with pulling, lifting and moving objects in creative ways. Some adventurous students climbed trees to loop ropes over branches, while others designed bark platforms to lift toy cars up into the trees. There were also some clever tight-rope creations used to pull baskets along!
-
Alongside their science discoveries, students enjoyed weaving with natural items they found outdoors and spent the day exploring, creating and working together.
-
It was fantastic to see so much curiosity, teamwork and joy as the students learned through hands-on play in the great outdoors.
