Makuru at the wetlands 🌿
Nestled amongst two acres of towering trees, natural wetlands and bushland, our Margaret River campus provides children with endless opportunities to connect with the natural world.
During each Noongar season, our Junior Primary children return to the wetlands to observe, reflect and sketch the changes they notice over time. We are currently in Makuru which is the coldest and wettest season of the year, when heavy rains replenish Boodja (Country) and new life begins to emerge.
Learning in nature encourages children to slow down, observe closely, and develop a lifelong respect for the living world around them. 💚

We hope the past few weeks have offered your family time to slow down, reconnect and enjoy the simple moments together. 🌿
Today, Monday 20th July, we look forward to opening our classroom doors once again and welcoming our children back for the start of Term 3. We can’t wait to hear their stories, see familiar faces, and continue learning and growing together.
We will see you at school ☀️

🌊❄️ Taking the Big Freeze for Sue & MNDWA ❄️🌊
On Sunday 19 July at 8am, a team of Margaret River Montessori School staff and community members will be braving the icy waters at Gnarabup Jetty as part of the Big Freeze, raising vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease WA (MNDWA).
This cause is especially close to our hearts.
Earlier this year, we farewelled Sue Gaunt - a founding parent, former staff member and much-loved member of our school community. Sue played an integral role in establishing Margaret River Montessori School in the early 1990s, and her kindness, dedication and vision continue to shape our community today.
Despite her own journey with MND, Sue remained hopeful that, through the generosity and compassion of others, a cure would one day be found.
In Sue’s honour, our team is taking the plunge as Sue’s Blue Crew, raising funds to support the vital work of MNDWA and the individuals and families affected by this devastating disease.
Whether you’d like to join us for the jump, cheer from the shore, or support Sue’s Blue Crew with a donation, we’d be so grateful for your support.
Together, we can honour Sue’s legacy and help bring hope for a future without MND. 💙

🍂 Djeran Mia Mia Construction Day 🍂
On Wednesday afternoon, our students came together in their Kin Groups for a special Djeran seasonal learning experience.
As part of learning about Djeran, the Noongar season of cooler weather and the beginning of the rains, students worked collaboratively to build traditional mia mias using natural materials. Through hands-on learning, creativity, and teamwork, students strengthened connections across year levels while exploring the significance of shelter and seasonal change in Noongar culture.
A big thank you to the students and families who brought in suitable branches and natural materials from home to support the building process. Your contributions helped make the experience even more meaningful for our students.
