🖤💛❤️ Celebrating NAIDOC Week ❤️💛🖤

This week at Margaret River PreKindy, we are excited to celebrate NAIDOC Week with the children as we learn about and honour the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our learning experiences encourage the children to develop a deeper appreciation of Australia's First Peoples through storytelling, art, music, nature and play.

Some of the experiences the children will enjoy include:
🌿 Creating Aboriginal-inspired artwork using natural materials.
📚 Sharing Dreaming stories and Indigenous picture books.
🐾 Exploring Australian native animals and their habitats.
🎶 Listening and moving to Indigenous music.
🍃 Spending time in nature while strengthening our connection to Country.

At Margaret River PreKindy, we believe every child deserves opportunities to learn about Australia's rich cultural heritage in meaningful, respectful and age-appropriate ways. These experiences help foster respect, curiosity, inclusion and a sense of belonging for everyone.

We acknowledge the Wadandi People, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and play. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

At PreKindy, we are so lucky to witness the beautiful relationships children share with the people who mean the most to them — from warm cuddles at drop off, to excited stories shared at pick up time.
This week our little learners have been busy creating special Mother’s Day experiences filled with:

Mother’s Day gives children the opportunity to express appreciation, develop empathy and celebrate the important people in their lives.

Today we are celebrating our beautiful planet and the important role we all play in caring for it — not just today, but every day.
At Margaret River PreKindy, our children develop a deep connection with the natural world through our Bush Kindy experiences, where nature becomes the classroom.
This week our little learners have been:
🍃 Exploring the outdoors and discovering nature
♻️ Learning simple ways to reduce, reuse and recycle
🐞 Observing insects and talking about how we can protect them
🌏Discovering about the planet Earth and how it is made up of land and water.

Through these experiences, children begin to understand that even the smallest actions can make a big difference.
