Dear Alumni,
Please save the date for Wendy’s Farewell on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Margaret River Independent School. After an incredible 43 years of dedication, Wendy is retiring, and we invite you to join us for a special High Tea in the afternoon.
Further details and RSVP information will be shared soon.
Create a Heart for Wendy (Top Secret!)
To celebrate Wendy’s remarkable contribution, a bespoke birdbath by ceramicist Joanna Alferink will be presented on behalf of the school. Alumni are warmly invited to hand glaze a ceramic heart that will form part of this unique artwork.
You can glaze your heart at Jo’s Open Studio, 232 Gnarawary Rd, Margaret River, between 23–28 September.
Volunteer at the Glazing Station
We would greatly appreciate any alumni who can assist with manning the glazing station during this period. If you are able to help, please contact the MRIS office at [email protected] or phone 9757 7515.
We look forward to celebrating Wendy together and honouring her incredible legacy.
Warm regards,
The MRIS Team

A dancing extravaganza thrilled MRIS students this week when a talented dance troupe from Margaret River Senior High School (MRSHS) performed for the school.
MRSHS Dancing troupe performed modern dance routines for five primary schools in the region.
Most exciting was the inclusion of three former MRIS students, Luca Prolongeau, Matilda Lukac (2019 graduates) and Pia Bawden.

Six former MRIS students came ‘back to school’ on Tuesday as part of Margaret River Senior High School’s transition process. The current MRIS Year 6 students were keen to listen to the experiences of Darcy, Gabe, Louis, Evie, Claudia and Tilly who graduated from MRIS last year. MRIS Principal, Wendy Roediger said the visit was important to ensure a smooth and positive transition into high school. “MRIS Year 6 students will spend this semester getting ready for the important move to high school by developing strategies for overcoming academic and social challenges, resilience-building, and increasing critical-thinking.” Year 6 teacher Laura Nicholls said transition preparation was essential in making students feel secure about the next step in their education. Specially designed ‘leavers’ shirts and hoodies are currently being worn by the Year 6 class, and a 2024 Leavers Yearbook is being designed.
