WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY 🐸Striped Rocket Frog

Small but mighty, the Striped Rocket Frog is a familiar voice across Kabi Kabi & Jinabara Country after rain. Recognisable by the pale stripe running down its back, this agile native frog can make impressive leaps to escape predators and thrives around wetlands, creeks, dams and grassy waterways.

As an important indicator of healthy ecosystems, the presence of Striped Rocket Frogs tells us our waterways are supporting life. Every frog, every creek and every habitat plays a part in caring for Country.

This little guy was found over at the Journey to the Bunya Mud Activity at QCCC Mapleton

Wildlife Wednesday🦎Eastern Water Dragon 💚

Meet one of Kabi Kabi & Jinibara Country's most fascinating reptiles—the Eastern Water Dragon.

Often seen basking on rocks or darting into creeks and rivers, these impressive lizards are excellent swimmers and can stay underwater for up to 90 minutes to avoid predators. They feed on insects, flowers, fruits and small animals, helping maintain the balance of healthy ecosystems.

All animals have an important place within Country, reminding us that every living thing has a role in caring for the land and waterways.

Next time you're exploring Kabi Kabi or Jinibara Country, keep an eye on the water's edge—you might spot an Eastern Water Dragon soaking up the sunshine before making a splash!

🤎 Care for Country.
