Class 2 are immersed in the story of The King of Ireland’s Son. Alongside hearing the tale, the students are exploring place value by working with the numbers that arise within the story, helping the students understand the value of each digit in a number in a meaningful and engaging way.

The chalkboard in Prep acts as a picture on the wall and supports the story that the students participate in each Friday. They perform a "play" where they volunteer to be a character and "act" out the story as Jack reads.
As the story grows and develops each week, new characters appear on the board.
There are still a few weeks to go before the end of term, and the whole school is eager to see what happens next!

Our Year 12s have been busy with their heads, hearts and hands these last few weeks in Chemistry land completing their Chemistry Internal Assessment (IA).
Each student enjoyed the freedom of designing their own experiment, based on their own interests, and through the lens of chemistry, have now conducted, tabulated, graphed, analysed and evaluated their findings.
We have had projects ranging from the electrolysis of copper, Prussian blue pigment synthesis, exploring the limits of buffer capacity, optimising salt bridges in voltaic cells, vitamin C degradation in orange juice, the effect of pasteurisation on the sulphite content of white wine, and determining the levels of toxic oxalates in Rhubarb leaves.
Critical thinking skills are the beating heart of this exercise, and there is no escaping this (at times painful) process that ultimately builds our students capacities to be analytical and independent thinkers.
Well done Year 12s - 3000 words down - you have earned a well-deserved break.

Class Two met Saint Odilia and has been exploring her life through the medium of a play. They have been working hard to learn her story and to consider how best to portray it, so it could be shared with a wider audience. This work culminated in two wonderful performances.
The students wore their costumes, managed set changes, and remembered most of their lines and songs. Well done to Class Two, and thank you to our guest musicians from Class Five.
