🌱It’s always my goal, to learn. To continually grow. This Autumn I took part in a personal challenge with Roger Fabri Speed Academy .. here’s what I recount ...
Roger Fabri.
A passionate and deliberate Speed Coach recruited women from all walks of life this Autumn in what he called Mental Health Challenge.
The challenge was of course, about making the women better at running. But, that’s not all that occurred over this 3 week program.
Roger Fabri is renowned as a Coach who leaves nothing at the door and puts everything into each athlete each session. These women were exposed to Rogers coaching methods, what happened?
With the youngest in the group being a 16 year old school student whom had never had coaching or done sprinting and the oldest being a 38 year old athletic very coached ex “footballher” wannabe Pole Vaulter ... individual goals were varied, but the group was collective by the one ambition of personal growth and happiness.
Roger is unashamedly himself. His coaching methods are, upfront. He is direct. His voice is remarkably listened to and whilst he may boast about the results of his coaching for what is seemingly too long, he earns respect.
He earns respect with the downright unapologetic authenticity in his passion for athletics, speed and sport performance and the individual athlete, you.
Not everyone likes Roger, but, we all respect him. He makes us better.
By observing the women over this 3 week (which turned into 4 weeks out of his desire to give more and see more benefits), you could see the changes. From the first drill, to the last. There is a simplicity and common theme among the group.
A quiet growth of personal confidence.
Whilst Roger may swear, and be extremely direct it comes from his pure intention to create a better athlete and it works. He will yell at you arm or say that’s bulls**t or ... directly speak to someone about how crap that effort was in the group. That’s him. Him being him, teaches us, to be us. Our individuality started to shine. We were all great. We were all improving every rep!
From experience with seeing coaches battle with the inability to bring out the best in female athletes, I can say, that Roger
