this May ? đ
As the month draws to a close, weâre celebrating what has been a fantastic month of diving! The waters have stayed beautifully warm, bringing an awesome mix of our usual local favorites like turtles, eagle rays, and dusky whalers alongside a few of our warmer water visitors like bannerfish and moorish idols still hanging on in there. Weâve even spotted the beginnings of our winter regulars, with giant cuttlefish starting to settle in comfortably.
Beyond our usual spots, we had some incredible trips both locally and further afield, heading out to Bushrangers Bay, The Steps in Kurnell, running night dives at Chowder Bay, and even travelling all the way to the Galapagos Islands!
Looking ahead, June is notoriously a great month for diving here in Sydney. Itâs your chance to see Australian giant cuttlefish, to welcome the port jackson sharks and to explore new dive sites such as Bongin Bongin Bay and Bushrangers Bay.
Want to see what we have lined up for the month ahead? Check out our June calendar to secure your spots! https://divesydney.com.au/dive-calendar/

It is a bit of a drizzly day out there, but weâve got that Friday feeling nonetheless!
Our team jumped in to test the waters down at Shelly Beach yesterday, but conditions are still less than favourable, so weâd suggest staying above water today. That hasn't stopped the local marine life, though. There were eagle rays, octopuses, and giant cuttlefish roaming and wandering, all preparing for us to jump back in soon to say hi.
In the meantime, James and El are holding down the fort in the shop and keeping it nice and warm. Whether youâre in the mood to browse some new gear, get some air fills, make a future booking, or drop your current kit in for a service, weâve got you covered! We are actively monitoring the ocean conditions today and are hoping to be back in the water for the weekend ahead.
Thought about enhancing your dive skill set and bettering your buoyancy? Well, look no further! Weâve got a couple of spots left on our PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Course this Sunday, and itâs got your name written all over it! With a damp, cosy feel in Manly today and the easterly swell delighting the surfers, we divers are taking another day to recharge our dive batteries. All except for the lucky group joining Michael on our trip to the GalĂĄpagos.
Weâve just had word of some incredible dives at Darwinâs Arch!
Completing their checkout dives on day one, they were greeted by GalĂĄpagos sharks, mobulas, eagle rays, wahoo, and fevers of golden rays. Not a bad little checkout dive if you ask us. If thatâs where the action started, we canât wait to see the footage from todayâs diving once the divers decompress and download their new photos!
If cooler wet mornings and Michaelâs new bragging rights have you dreaming of your own tropical escape, come join us as we make our way over to one of our favourite diving spots, Beqa Lagoon, Fiji!
Explore stunning reefs and dive with over 7 species of shark. Last places remaining, so get in quick to avoid that dive holiday envy!

Michael is out there living the dream, and you could be doing the exact same thing. Sponsored by PADI, if you earn your Master Scuba Diver rating this year, you could win a liveaboard trip for two to the GalĂĄpagos Islands!
To become a PADI MSD, you need to be a PADI Rescue Diver, complete five PADI Specialty courses and log at least 50 dives. It is the highest non-professional recreational rating a diver can achieve, earned by fewer than 2% of divers worldwide.
And while that might sound like a big goal, every great diver started in the same place by mastering the fundamentals. If youâve ever struggled with buoyancy, found yourself floating to the surface or kicking along the bottom, youâre not alone. Fine tuning your trim, weighting and control underwater can completely change the way you dive, helping you feel more relaxed, confident and comfortable.
Thatâs exactly what the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course is designed to do. Itâs one of the best ways to sharpen your skills, improve your air consumption and take the next step toward your Master Scuba Diver goal.
In just one day, you can start building toward that dream dive adventure. For more information on the Peak Performance Buoyancy course, check out our website: https://divesydney.com.au/padi-peak-performance-buoyancy/

Is it everyone's dream to swim with a humpback whale, or just ours? đ
This , we are counting down to our August escape to the Solitary Islands, where we are making that dream a reality.
Just six hours north of Sydney, this spectacular marine park sits where the warm waters of the Great Barrier Reef meet the cooler southern currents, creating one of Australiaâs most diverse underwater playgrounds.
Every dive here is different. You could spot macro favourites like clownfish, anglerfish, and vibrant nudibranchs, or even come face-to-face with ocean giants. Think humpback whales, grey nurse sharks, leopard sharks, and eagle rays gliding through the blue.
Trip Inclusions:
- 4 boat dives, including the Solitary Islands and North Solitary
- A dedicated swim with humpback whales
- 3 nights of accommodation

Weâre staying dry again today, making it the perfect time to pop the kettle on and start plotting your next underwater adventure.
It's easy to find ourselves holiday dreaming as we watch Michael and the team set off on their Galapagos expedition. As of this morning, they have officially boarded the GalĂĄpagos Master and have set off into the archipelago; we can't wait to hear what awaits them.
Whether you are dreaming of far-off tropical waters or lining up your next splash right here in Sydney, this surface interval is a great opportunity to get your dive preparation sorted. El and Emily are keeping the shop warm and running, so if you need to get your gear serviced for an upcoming trip or want to pick up some winter accessories, swing by and say hey! Since we're closed tomorrow, today is your chance to get it sorted.
The ocean will be ready for us soon, and we will be straight back in the moment the swell settles down. In the meantime, you can check out our dive calendar to see what we have coming up soon: https://divesydney.com.au/dive-calendar/

A large swell has rolled in, reducing visibility, so weâre staying above water today. Not to worry, though, weâve got plenty of ocean-related dry-day activities to keep you busy through the week!
Yesterday, Pete McGee's photography students, Ria, Martin, and Katarzyna, managed to capture some incredible shots during their course. Make sure to check them out below to see their brilliant work! Meanwhile, our team in the Galapagos Islands has safely landed and has already been checking out some of the amazing wildlife San CristĂłbal has to offer.
If you are heading down to check out the surf at Shelly Beach today, rumour has it there is a seal swimming around, so see if you can spot it from the shore!
Alternatively, if you want to use this time to stay dry but still expand your dive horizons, you can complete the PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Course without even dipping a toe in the water. Simply buy the course online, finish your eLearning, and book a practical session with us at the shop to get certified. It is a true dry-day win!

Calling all ocean lovers who want to make a real difference! đđ
On Sunday 5th July, weâre heading down to Manly Cove for our next Dive Against Debris event, and as an exciting new addition, participants can now also complete their PADI Dive Against Debris Specialty Course alongside the day!
Whether you jump in the water as a diver, a snorkeller, or lend a hand on land, this day is all about community action, and simply joining us makes a huge difference.
But if you want to use this fun day out to fast-track your training, adding on the specialty course is the perfect opportunity. Youâll learn exactly how to safely identify, collect, record, and report marine debris. Not only will you help protect your favourite local dive sites, but you will also contribute directly to a global database used to power ocean conservation efforts worldwide.
And whatâs even better? Earning this specialty brings you one step closer to your PADI Master Scuba Diver certification, the highest title a recreational diver can achieve without becoming a pro. To get there, you just need to be a Rescue Diver with 5 specialties and 50 logged dives.
Whether you're joining us for a rewarding day out or stepping up to get certified, weâd love to have you on the team. And did we mention? Thereâll be a sausage sizzle! đ

A relaxed Sunday morning for most, but the ocean is working overtime today! Since the swell has picked up on the East, we are heading across to the sheltered harbourside.
Shelly Beach was full of ocean traffic yesterday! Daz saw his first Port Jackson shark of the year, and it was a cute one at only 25cm. Along with that little highlight, the team also spotted plenty of giant cuttlefish around the bower, eagle rays, leatherjackets, and more.
Today, Pete and Jeevan are continuing their Underwater Photography Fundamentals and PADI Open Water Courses. Meanwhile, Em and Daz are leading our Double Guided Shore Dives and Refresher Course at Chowder Bay, where they will be hunting for reaper cuttlefish, Whiteâs seahorses, blue-ringed octopuses, frogfish, pipefish, and all the nudibranchs they can find.
Staying cosy this weekend? Itâs the perfect time to get ticking away on your eLearning and filling those diving knowledge gaps. The natural next step from your PADI Open Water certification is, of course, the PADI Advanced Open Water Course. Booking on today gives you the chance to dive deeper, discover more, and be an even better dive buddy.
