Does My Horse Need a Ration Balancer? 🤔

Horses who are fed a healthy and nutritionally balanced diet will generally present with better coat condition, hoof quality, top line and muscle development and will overall look and perform better.

There are many signs of nutrient deficiencies in horses and ponies, including:

- Poor coat condition
- Brittle or cracked hooves
- Lethargic or reluctant to work
- Limited ability to perform to their best
- Poor bowel movements including diarrhea
- Reduced immune function
- Changes in normal behaviour

Long term nutrient deficiencies can not only affect a horse’s external appearance and performance, but can result in more serious health conditions.

Factors that increase the risk of nutrient deficiency:
- Provided a diet of only grazing or hay
- Grazing on nutrient deficient soil
- Fed a 'complete' feed but not at the recommended rate
- Current diet is not balanced to provide essential vitamins and minerals
